Organizations Filed Purposes: IN SERVICE TO COMMUNITIES, THE EARTH AND FUTURE GENERATIONS, THE SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH NETWORK FORGES SCIENCE, ETHICS, AND LAW INTO TOOLS FOR ACTION.

Grass Roots Program: The Science & Environmental Health Network provided legal and scientific expertise to grassroots campaigns working to protect water, climate and public health. We shared our 25-year expertise in law, science and innovative policy through intensive local workshops, factsheets, workbooks, guidance and technical assistance. Consulted with regulators and media about permits and monitoring with pipelines around the country. Incorporated the legal principles of the Commons, Free, Prior and Informed Consent, The Public Trust and the Precautionary Principle in environmental work around the country. Assisted with re-grants for other grass root organizations needing assistance on campaigns. Worked with coalitions in Iowa recommending to state officials about shifting the states budget from enriching corporations to caring for the commonwealth and public health. Started a new project on challenging the Powell Memo and redefining the role of government and changing what people expect of the government.

Ecological Medicine Program: Science & Environmental Health Network worked extensively with many community groups and non-governmental organizations in the US, addressing many aspects of human health and the environment through an Ecological Model of Health. We provided scientific expertise to community groups and individuals who were tackling problems of pesticides, toxic chemicals in consumer products, contaminated drinking water and air. Conducted analysis, wrote white papers, and gave numerous presentations on the food-agriculture-climate connection as a strategic point for climate change mitigation and adaptation. Regularly provided content to numerous listservs of the Collaborative on Health and the Environment. Served as science advisor and speaker for the Health Care Without Harm Safer Materials and Healthy Food in Health Care workgroups.

Womens Congress for Future Generations: The Women's Congress for Future Generations (WCFFG) is an ongoing project of SEHN since 2012. Its mission is to raise up women's voices to catalyze actions that shift laws, policies, and norms that support a world in which future generations can thrive. In 2017, SEHN hosted the third Womens Congress in Minneapolis, MN with over 400 women and men participating. In 2019 the WCFFG focused on the role of government, specifically highlighting the public trust doctrine. We prepared and released videos of the last WCFFG that featured the key themes of the rights of future generations, the public trust doctrine and the precautionary principle. We hosted a workshop and presented materials at various meetings in Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa in 2019 regarding sex trafficking around pipelines as well as creating monitoring pipeline handbooks for pre-construction, during and post-construction.
