TO CREATE A VIBRANT FUTURE FOR AGRICULTURE, FARM FAMILIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES.
Education: The Company places great emphasis on Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC). The Company employs two part time coordinators and one seasonal intern to create content and educate youth on where their food comes from and the impact of agriculture on their community. The Company's AITC program reaches 20 schools and 4,500 students in Polk County, Iowa. The program also hosts an annual teacher workshops to educate 21 local teachers on agriculture and resources available to their classrooms.
Public Policy: The Company functions as a grassroots support network for engaging in public policy education and communications affecting their membership. A member survey is printed and distributed to 1,100 members to obtain thoughts and opinions on issues affecting them on a local, state, and national level. Legislative meetings and policy education sessions were hosted for members throughout the season.
Agriculture Promotion: The Company promotes agriculture to the general public and its members throughout the year. The Company contributes to and helps with the Polk County Fair held in Des Moines, Iowa. Through partnerships with local events and organizations the Company presented a daily interactive "Minute to Win It" game at the Iowa State Fair to promote agricultural commodities and participated in projects with local entity, Living History Farms, to highlight the diverse uses of agricultural products and their global impact. A meeting and appreciation event of the Company's membership was held for 450 attendees to promote local agriculture programing.
