IN FY 2019, VOTERS OF NE STAFF WORKED WITH ALLIES IN THE NEBRASKA LEGISLATURE TO PASS A PROACTIVE BILL TO EXPAND THE USE OF EXPEDITED PARTNER TREATMENT (EPT) TO INCLUDE TREATMENT FOR TRICHOMONIASIS, THE MOST COMMON CURABLE SEXUALLY TRASMITTED DISEASE. THIS ALLOWS PLANNED PARENTHOOD CLINICS TO TREAT MORE PATIENTS AND ULTIMATELY REDUCE THE INSTANCES OF THE DISEASE IN NEBRAKSA. VOTERS OF NE STAFF WORKED HARD TO DEFEAT A SO-CALLED ABORTION "REVERSAL" BILL, REQUIRING PLANNED PARENTHOOD DOCTORS TO TALK ABOUT AN UNPROVEN AND UNETHICAL PROCEDURE TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD PATIENTS. THE BILL DID PASS, BUT THE LANGUAGE WAS SOFTENED TO BE LESS HARMFUL. VOLUNTEERS SPENT OVER 1500 HOURS WORKING ON (CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O)LEGISLATION. IN NEBRASKA, STAFF HOSTED THREE POLICY SUMMITS, ONE IN EACH OF THE THREE CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS, WITH 128 GUESTS ATTENDING. FOR EACH, VOTERS OF NE PARTNERED WITH NINE LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO SHARE A BROAD PICTURE OF POLICIES THAT MIGHT IMPACT PLANNED PARENTHOOD PATIENTS AND NEBRASKA COMMUNITIES. THE SUMMITS OCCUR AS A PRECURSOR TO THE NEBRASKA LEGISLATIVE SESSION IN ORDER TO PREPARE SUPPORTERS TO TAKE ACTIONS. VOTERS OF NE COMPLETED THE FIRST YEAR OF THE SPEAKERS BUREAU PROGRAM, WHICH TRAINED 9 COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES REGARDING HOW PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND ACCESS OR LACK OF ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE IMPACTED THEIR LIVES. DURING THE 2019 LEGISLATIVE SESSION, 18 UNIQUE STORIES WERE SHARED EXTERNALLY AT HEARINGS, RALLIES, AND CONSTITUENT MEETINGS, AND AS LTES AND OP-EDS. FORTY ADDITIONAL NEW STORIES WERE COLLECTED DURING THIS TIME AS WELL. VOTES OF NE STAFF ENGAGED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THROUGH PHONE BANKING AND DIGITAL OUTREACH AND ADVERTISING DURING LEGISLATIVE SESSION TO COMBAT THE SO-CALLED ABORTION "REVERSAL" BILL, AND APPROXIMATELY 600 CONSTITUENTS CONTACTED THEIR LEGISLATOR IN OPPOSITION TO THIS BILL. IN ADDITION, 1,692 POSTCARDS WERE SENT IN 8 DISTRICTS ASKING SUPPORTERS TO TAKE ACTION WITH THEIR STATE SENATOR (WHETHER FOR OR AGAINST LEGISLATION). 36 VOLUNTEERS FILLED 88 VOLUNTEER SHIFTS TO COMPLETE THIS TASK.VOTERS OF NE STAFF HELD A LOBBY DAY WITH 107 ATTENDEES FROM ACROSS THE STATE. ATTENDEES RECEIVED TRAINING AND THEN WENT TO THE CAPITOL TO TALK TO SENATORS ABOUT THREE PRO-REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS BILLS INCLUDING LB 62, EXPANDING E.P.T. FOR PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH TRICHOMONIASIS, A BILL THAT WAS EVENTUALLY PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY THE LEGISLATURE. TWO SUPPORTIVE SENATORS PARTICIPATED IN A THE POST-LOBBYING LUNCH WITH ATTENDEES TO ALLOW MORE INTIMATE CONVERSATION.VOTERS OF NE STAFF WORKED IN NEBRASKA TO ELECT PRO-REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS SENATORS TO THE STATE LEGISLATURE AND DEFEAT THOSE THAT ARE OPPOSED TO THIS WORK. LEADING UP TO THE NOVEMBER 2018 ELECTION, VOTERS OF NE MADE ALMOST 22,000 VOTER CONTACT ATTEMPTS INCLUDING OVER 14,000 CALLS, OVER 4,000 DOOR KNOCKS, AND ALMOST 3,500 POSTCARDS. VOTERS OF NE HAD OVER 100 UNIQUE VOLUNTEERS FILL OVER 200 VOLUNTEER SHIFTS. VOTERS OF NE GREW C4 SUPPORTERS IN TARGETED DISTRICTS BY OVER 1,000 VOTERS AND BY OVER 15,000 ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE.VOTERS OF NE STAFF ALSO SUPPORTED CANDIDATES IN 2019 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN LINCOLN, MAKING OVER 2,500 ADDITIONAL VOTER CONTACTS.VOTERS OF NE STAFF ALSO REGISTERED OVER 40 NEW VOTERS DURING FY19. IN NEBRASKA, STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS WORKED TO PASS THE MEDICAID EXPANSION BALLOT INITIATIVE ON THE NOVEMBER 2018 BALLOT. THIS INCLUDED OVER 11,000 PHONE CALLS, ALMOST 6,000 DOOR KNOCKS, AND OVER 3,500 POSTCARDS SENT. NEBRASKA ADVOCACY STAFF OPERATED A SOPHISTICATED DIGITAL PROGRAM THAT GENERATED 5,696 WEBSITE VISITS, 4,140 FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS, AND 554 TWITTER LIKES.
