PUBLIC POLICY - Meetings with County Supervisors and County Engineer on issues important to members like Property Taxes, Roads and Rural Safety (7 members served). Meetings with Elected State and National officials to discuss key policy issues affecting agriculture and rural Iowa (7 members served). Legislative Forums with State Elected officials to discuss issues important to members, agriculture and their communities (500 members). Member Input through annual survey to direct Board of Directors on policy statements on issues affecting agriculture and rural communities (218 members responded).
EDUCATION/ AITC - Promotion of scholarship opportunities to Members through email, school counselors and High School Ag Instructors (three member students awarded). Sponsored Young Farmer Members to attend Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmer Conference ($297). Co Sponsored Southeast Iowa Farm Show with over 50 vendors (500 members attended). Classroom Visits for elementary students (over 700 students served).
PUBLIC RELATIONS - Sponsored Agriculture Appreciation Event to promote agriculture's role in the County's economy and showcase the evolution of agriculture over the past 100 years (750 participants). Promoted and supported the County Fair to educate the non-farmer on modern agriculture and the important role farmers play in their community (Over 500 participants). Organized a promotion to support the local food pantry during National Agriculture Week in March (Over 300 participants). Organized a teacher appreciation with local businesses to help teachers with supplies and resources needed for their classrooms (225 teachers attended).
