Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY PERSON. THE FOREST CITY FAMILY YMCA PUTS CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT BUILD A HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY FOR ALL. THE FOREST CITY FAMILY YMCA PROVIDES PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, FACILITIES, AND EQUIPMENT FOR ALL PEOPLE. THE YMCA WELCOMES EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF AGE, RACE, SEX, ETHNICITY, ABILITY, OR RELIGION. MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE BASED ON COMMUNITY AFFORDABILITY AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THE FULL COST OF MEMBERSHIP. WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION EVERYDAY BY OFFERING PROGRAMS THAT HELP TO DEVELOP THE CHARACTERISTICS OF CARING, RESPONSIBILITY, HONESTY, AND RESPECT. WE DO THIS BY HAVING Y STAFF MEMBERS MODEL AND DEMONSTRATE THESE CORE VALUES IN THEIR INTERACTIONS WITH ALL PARTICIPANTS. WE ARE A VOLUNTEER-DIRECTED ORGANIZATION AND AS SUCH NO INDIVIDUAL PROFITS MONETARILY BECAUSE OF OUR OPERATIONS.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT - OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. WE BELIEVE ALL KIDS HAVE GREAT POTENTIAL AND DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT IS WHY WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH AND EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENT. OUR YMCA PROGRAMS, SUCH AS YOUTH SPORTS AND CHILD CARE, OFFER A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL, COGNITIVE AND PHYSICAL GROWTH. EXPENSES INCLUDE SUBSIDIES AND DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THAT MAKE PARTICIPATION POSSIBLE FOR 12 PERCENT OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE WE ENGAGE.

HEALTHY LIVING - THE Y IS COMMITTED TO IMPROVING AMERICA'S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING, COMMUNITY BY COMMUNITY. WE BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. AS A RESULT, OVER 4,000, PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH IN SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT AS OUR NATION STRUGGLES WITH CHRONIC DISEASE AND OBESITY, FAMILIES WRESTLE WITH WORK/LIFE BALANCE AND INDIVIDUALS SEARCH FOR PERSONAL FULFILLMENT. OUR PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSIBLE AFFORDABLE AND OPEN TO ALL FAITHS, BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES AND INCOME LEVELS. IN 2019, WE PROVIDED OVER $23,000 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE WHO OTHERWISE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD TO PARTICIPATE.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - OUR YMCA BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING OUR NEIGHBORS. WE HAVE BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO OUR COMMUNITY'S MOST CRITICAL SOCIAL NEEDS FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS. OUR CHILD CARE PROGRAM HAS GROWN IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS IN RESPONSE TO COMMUNITY NEED. WE OFFER THREE SITES FOR INFANTS THROUGH UPPER ELEMENTARYAGED YOUTH. OUR NEWLY DEVELOPED STEAMS (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS, MATH AND SKILLED LABOR) PROGRAMMING CONTINUES TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL MIDDLE-SCHOOL-AGED YOUTH TO EXPLORE NEW AND CREATIVE PROGRAMS. EFFORTS TO OFFER PROGRAMS TO OUR HUNDREDS OF OUR SENIOR CITIZENS THROUGH OUR ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS PROGRAM FEATURES LEARNING AND FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO REDUCE SOCIAL ISOLATION AND DISCONNECTIONS.
