Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISANS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES TO EARN INCOME BY BRINGING THEIR PRODUCTS AND STORIES TO OUR MARKETS THROUGH LONG-TERM FAIR TRADING RELATIONSHIPS. THE ORGANIZATION SELLS MERCHANDISE, SUBSTANTIALLY ALL OF WHICH HAS BEEN HAND- CRAFTED BY PERSONS OF LOW-INCOME, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE INCREASED SELF- EMPLOYMENT AND A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE FOR LOW-INCOME PERSONS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE GOAL IS TO RAISE THE PUBLIC'S AWARENESS OF AND CONCERN FOR ECONOMIC JUSTICE FOR THE POOR IN IMPOVERISHED PARTS OF THE WORLD, AND FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY WHICH PROTECTS THE ENVIRONMENT.
DURING THE YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION PURCHASED FAIR TRADE GOODS FROM ARTISANS IN 36 DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. THERE WERE 30 VOLUNTEERS DONATING 1600 HOURS. HOURS OF THE STORE WERE EXTENDED AN ADDITIONAL EIGHT HOURS A WEEK WHICH ALLOWED US TO INCREASE ARTISAN PURCHASES BY ABOUT 9000. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND BOARD CHAIR TRAVELED TO KOLKATA, INDIA TO VISIT THREE ARTISAN GROUPS THAT THE ORGANIZATION BUYS FROM.
HOSTED THE 3RD ANNUAL RUG EVENTS THAT PUT 24257.50 DIRECTLY INTO THE HANDS OF OUR ARTISANS PARTNERS IN PAKISTAN
