The Harrison County Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to ending the suffering of stray or unwanted Dogs, Cats, Puppies and Kittens by ensuring they have food, water, shelter and medical attention when needed in Harrison County, Iowa.
November 2011, HCHS was able to purchase a build, due to a generous benefactor. Once the inspection was done, HCHS was able to move in December 2011, and became a functioning shelter. The most dogs that HCHS can take in is eight, plus we rely on our foster homes too. We can take in ten cats.HCHS has no set hours at this time..it is by appointment only.HCHS is run on volunteer power only!Animal neglect, abuse, animal at large and investigation complaints... you must contact your local police department or the Harrison County Sheriff.HCHS is not trained in animal control at this time.1 . Provide temp housing for animals waiting for thier forever home.2 . Provide veterinary services3 . Provide on going shelter services
