TO PROMOTE AND ADVANCE THE INTEREST OF THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTING INDUSTRY; TO EDUCATE MEMBERS AND EMPLOYEES AND THE PUBLIC AS A WHOLE; TO FOSTER THE MEETING AND EXCHANGE OF IDEAS, TECHNICAL DATA, AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENTS AND INFORMATION BETWEEN MEMBERS, THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION, AND OTHER ASSOCIATIONS AND MANUFACTORERS, AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES; TO REPRESENT THE MEMBERSHIP IN ITS RELATIONS WITH ITS EMPLOYEES AND ANY GROUP OR GROUPS WHICH MAY REPRESENT ITS EMPLOYEES; TO PROVIDE FOR AFFILIATION WITH THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, INC., AND THE FURTHERANCE OF THE OBJECTIVES OF SAID NATIONAL ASSOCIATION AS SET FORTH IN THE CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS.
TO PROMOTE ADEQUATE AND SAFE PLUMBING, HEATING, PROCESS PIPING, REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING THROUGH EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION IS AN ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO SERVING THE NEEDS OF AREA UNION CONTRACTORS WHO INSTALL HEATING, VENTILATION, AIR CONDITIONING, PROCESS PIPING AND REFRIGERATION UNITS. OUR MEMBERS INCLUDE LARGE CONTRACTORS WHO WORK FROM COAST-TO-COAST AS WELL AS SMALL SPECIALIZED CONTRACTORS WHO WORK ON A REGIONAL LEVEL. WE BELIEVE OUR ASSOCIATION'S STRENGTH RESTS IN THE DIVERSITY OF OUR MEMBERSHIP BASE.
LABOR RELATIONS- 1) PARTICIPATED IN QUARTERLY HEALTH AND WELFARE AND PENSION TRUST MEETINGS FOR LOCAL 33 AND LOCAL 125; 2) PARTICIPATED IN REGULAR TRUSTEE MEETINGS FOR THE JOINT APPRENTICE TRAINING COMMITTEES (JATC) FOR LOCAL 33 AND LOCAL 125; 3) IMPLEMENTED CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS UNDER JATC CONTROL, ENABLING PERSONS TO COMPLY WITH IOWA PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL SYSTEMS BOARD REQUIREMENTS; 4) IMPLEMENTED AND MAINTAINED WEB-BASED CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS ENABLING PERSONS TO COMPLY WITH IOWA PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL SYSTEMS BOARD REQUIREMENTS; 5) PARTICIPATED IN REGULAR LABOR-MANAGEMENT MEETINGS TO MAINTAIN WORKFORCE STABILITY AND IMPROVE TRAINING PROGRAMS TO MEET CUSTOMER DEMANDS.
SAFETY-1) COORDINATED THE FILMING OF TWO (2) NEW SAFETY VIDEOS TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO OVER 2,500 MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS NATIONWIDE; 2) IMPLEMENTED A NEW-HIRE SAFETY ORIENTATION VIDEO FOR MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS,; 3)MAINTAINED AND IMPROVED UPON THE MCAI TRAINING VAULT WEB-BASED TRAINING DATABASE THAT STREAMLINES TRAINING DOCUMENTATION AND STATISTICS FOR CLASSES TAUGHT BY THE MCAI, UNION AND THIRD PARTY PROVIDERS. IOWA STATEWIDE LICENSING CEU CREDITS CONTINUE TO BE TRACKED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS SYSTEM.
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS 1) PROVIDED INPUT TO THE STATE OF IOWA REQUESTING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE REBUILD IOWA INFRASTRUCTURE FUND (RIIF); 2.) PROVIDED INPUT, INTRODUCED LEGISLATION AND CONTINUED TO EDUCATE LEGISLATORS REGARDING THE BENEFITS OF ALLOWING ALTERNATIVE PROJECT DELIVERY METHODS TO BE UTILIZED ON PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS; 3) PARTICIPATED IN IOWA FUTURE READY INITIATIVES.
