SOCIETY OF DECORATIVE PAINTERS PROMOTES DECORATIVE PAINTING AND EDUCATES ITS MEMBERS THROUGH ITS QUARTERLY PUBLICATION "THE DECORATIVE PAINTER" MAGAZINE. THE MAGAZINE IS THE SOCIETY'S PRIMARY MEANS OF COMMUNICATION, EDUCATION, AND OUTREACH TO ITS MEMBERS, AS WELL AS THE KEY BENEFIT OF MEMBERSHIP. IT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON NEWSSTANDS. THE DECORATIVE PAINTER IS PUBLISHED IN BOTH PRINT AND ELECTRONIC VERSIONS. THE DECORATIVE PAINTER IS A PERIODICAL THAT INSTRUCTS MEMBERS IN NEW AND TRADITIONAL DECORATIVE PAINTING TECHNIQUES, ALERTS READERS TO TRENDS WITHIN THE ART FORM AND THROUGHOUT THE INDUSTRY, AND PROMOTES UNDERSTANDING OF THE RICH HISTORY OF THE DECORATIVE ARTS. ITS NUMEROUS INDUSTRY AWARDS AND MATCHLESS REPUTATION ATTEST TO THE DECORATIVE PAINTER AS THE LEADING DECORATIVE PAINTING PUBLICATION IN THE WORLD.

CONFERENCE SOCIETY OF DECORATIVE PAINTERS IS THE SPONSOR OF THE INDUSTRY'S OLDEST AND LARGEST ANNUAL DECORATIVE PAINTING CONVENTION AND TRADE SHOW. THE SOCIETY HOSTED ITS ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND EXPO IN VARIOUS STATES WHERE IT WAS ATTENDED BY MEMBERS, MEMBER-TEACHERS, VENDORS, AND EXHIBITORS. BUSINESS CONDUCTED AT THE CONFERENCE INCLUDED THE ANNUAL ELECTION OF SOCIETY OF DECORATIVE PAINTERS OFFICERS, THE OFFICIAL CERTIFICATION OF PAINTERS WHO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE SOCIETY'S INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATION PROGRAM, THE INITIATION OF NEW TEACHERS OF DECORATIVE ARTS, THE RECOGNITION OF THE SOCIETY'S 250 REGIONAL CHAPTERS, AND THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES WHO POSITIVELY IMPACTED THE ART FORM OR THE INDUSTRY OVER THE COURSE OF THE PRECEDING YEAR. IN ADDITION CLASSES WERE OFFERED IN WHICH TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES WERE TAUGHT AND INNOVATIVE NEW TECHNIQUES PROMOTED. THE ANNUAL EXPO SHOWCASED THE BEST AND NEWEST PRODUCTS THAT THE INDUSTRY HAS TO OFFER, WHILE ALLOWING VENDORS TO NETWORK WITH BOTH PAINTERS AND PROFESSIONALS.

CERTIFICATION: SOCIETY OF DECORATIVE PAINTERS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IS RECOGNIZED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AS THE STANDARD FOR ACCREDITATION OF DECORATIVE ARTISTS. MEMBERS FROM VARIOUS COUNTRIES PARTICIPATE. CERTIFICATION PROGRAM ENTRIES ARE JUDGED BY A VOLUNTEER PANEL OF SOCIETY OF DECORATIVE PAINTERS MASTER DECORATIVE ARTISTS ON OVERALL EFFECT, COLOR MANAGEMENT, BLENDING SKILLS, STROKE CONTROL, VALUE CONTROL, INTENSITY CONTROL, LINEWORK AND DETAIL, BACKGROUND, FRAME, NEATNESS, AND FINISH. PASSING ENTRIES ARE SHOWCASED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN "THE DECORATIVE PAINTER" ALL MEMBERS ATTAINING THE LEVEL OF CERTIFIED DECORATIVE ARTIST OR MASTER DECORATIVE ARTIST ARE RECOGNIZED, EVEN IF NOT ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE. BY HOSTING THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM, SOCIETY OF DECORATIVE PAINTERS ENSURES THAT DECORATIVE PAINTING'S MOST FINELY HONED SKILLS ARE PASSED ON TO FUTURE GENERATIONS OF PAINTERS.
