Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide people in the Kansas City area affected by poverty with services and opportunities that encourage self-confidence, meet the needs of today, and provide the tools for future self-sufficiency.
Housing Stabilization: The Housing Stabilization Program provides client stability through rent and utility assistance, homeless rehousing, and providing basic needs. In 2019, Cross-Lines provided rent and utility assistance to 266 households consisting of 288 children and 461 adults. Through the Rapid Rehousing program, 6 households, consisting of 2 children and 7 adults were moved from homelessness into permanent housing. In addition to these housing services, Cross-Lines provided for families' basic needs such as diapers, clothing, and toiletries. In 2019, Cross-Lines provided diapers to 710 babies, clothing to 2,306 individuals, and bags filled with toiletries to 1,839 households.
The Hunger Relief programs offers food to low-income seniors, individuals, and families. In 2019, the Community Kitchen served 22,805 Breakfasts, 36,036 hot Lunches, and 8,911 sack lunches to the community. The Food Pantry provides food for families to take home and prepare. In 2019, the Food Pantry provided food to 4,411 families, consisting of 3,736 children and 7,387 adults. The Commodities Food Distribution Program provided over 1,400 seniors with a monthly distribution of USDA commodities food. These programs are supported by the Cross-Lines Community Garden. This produce was distributed in our Food Pantry and prepared in meals at the Community Kitchen.
Christmas Store: The Christmas Store provides parents with the opportunity to 'shop' for Christmas for their families. Many families struggle to provide for the basic needs of their families, let alone the extra expense of Christmas presents. Each parent gets to choose what gifts they will give their children. In 2019, over 490 families received new clothing, toys, household goods, and food for Christmas.
