OWL is an advocate for wildlife, providing professional rehabilitation services for injured and orphaned wild animals. OWL provides wildlife education for the citizens of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri.

REHABILITATION: provides rehabilitation of 4000+ wild animals throughout Kansas. Primary coverage was originally 9 counties and 4500 sq miles. But since the disbanding of other groups OWL receives animals statewide to-date. The main facility includes a curgical suite, isolation, ward, nursery, lab, classroom, outside enclosures & multiple flight pens & hackout areas to facilitate caregiving. Annual release rate is 67% to 69%. Rehabilitation is provided by over 125 volunteers providing 57800 man hours.
PUBLIC EDUCATION: Classes & outreach programs are provided to 150,000-200,000 people each year in Northeast Kansas & Northwest Missouri. Education is utilized by individuals, school groups, public agencies, and civic/social organizations. Emphasis is on special challenges faced by wild animals including information on native species and habitats. Issues on coexistance, habitat distruction/stewardship are addressed. Permanent housing for 26 non-releaseable birds of prey and various reptiles are used for public education.
MOBILE FIELD WORK: Travel throughout Northeast Kansas to help citizens resolve wildlife situations involving displaced or orphaned wild animals as well as helping animals with treatable disease processes using non-invasive methods.
