Organizations Filed Purposes: The Mainstream Education Foundation was founded to promote separation of church and state with emphasis placed on public education and religious freedom. Mainstream is a coalition of informed citizens who believe that moderate voices need to be heard in today's political climate. Mainstream stands for common sense and responsible and compassionate ideals. We believe that people with different points of view can come together to forge good government that benefits all citizens.

MainStream Education Foundation works to educate its network and the larger public through regular communication via email and social media. The organization also holds regular legislative forums where sitting legislators are invited to update the public on key issues being addressed by the Kansas Legislature. Some topics have included: public education finance, tax reform, judicial selection and medicaid expansion. Additionally, MainStream Education Foundation holds an annual dinner (Stand Up Speak Out) to promote the mission and ideas of the Foundation. Each year community leaders and activists who have stood up and spoken out to better the community and state are honored. In 2018, 865 people came together to honor and further this work.

MainStream's signature voter engagement effort is its "Be a Voter" project. The goal of this project is to increase voter turnout, especially in primary elections where turnout is lower; educate voters about the importance of completing the full ballot and help them to find information that will inform their voting decisions; and help voters understand the when, where and hows of voting. In 2018 we expanded this effort with the addition of our Voter to Voter program. This relational model allows individuals and partner organizations to directly impact voter turnout and to be able to track and measure their outputs. In our pilot year, our volunteer ambassadors connected with 5,000 voters. Whereas overall voter turnout in Kansas was 56%, the voters contacted through our program turned out at 82%!
