HNC Living Foundation's primary mission is to help head and neck cancer patients live life fully during and after treatment by providing financial aid.
Living with head and neck cancer comes with challenges, both medical and financial. To not only survive but live a full life during and after head and neck cancer, patients are met with a long list of medical needs: surgery, chemo and radiation treatments, dental visits, nutritional supplements, rehabilitation and continued follow-up care. These necessary factors of a successful recovery can become costly, especially with limited or no insurance coverage. The financial burden can cause strain on family budgets, relationships, and ultimately the patient's treatment and recovery. Head and neck cancer often affects breathing, eating, drinking, and speaking. It can have a significant impact on a person's physical appearance, social interaction, and self-esteem, which affects a person's willingness or ability to socialize or return to work. Founded in 2013 by Teresa and Tom Walsh, HNC Living Foundation was organized with the specific mission of becoming the national resource to help head and neck cancer patients live life fully, during and after treatment, through financial aid. Since September 2015, HNC Living Foundation has awarded more than $1,400,000 in grants funds to more than 3,000 patients to benefit head and neck cancer patients in need. These needs include nutritional supplements, prescription assistance, dental services and dentures, medical supplies, co-pays, lodging, and travel assistance. This support will result in improved patient outcomes in overall health and well-being and have better financial stability.
