Organizations Filed Purposes:
HopeBUILDERS Home Repair's mission is to "help others live in safety, comfort and dignity". Since 2000,the organization has assisted under-served populations including the elderly,veterans, those with disabilities and and lower income, as well as otherwise disadvantaged homeowners with accessibility solutions and home repairs.
Through the Accessibility Solutions Program, HopeBUILDERS completed 64 projects for 56 clients in the greater Kansas City metro area. The projects included 36 ramps(new construction,repairs and two removals),7 bathroom tub-to-shower conversions, and 21 other accessibility projects such as step modifications, door widenings or grab bars/railings. Ramps ranged from a few feet to 100+ feet in length. These projects are primarily completed by HopeBUILDERS volunteers, corporate and community volunteer groups. The impact of these projects for low-income homeowners is significant. These projects allow individuals and older adults the gift of security and safety while navigating in their home.
Through the Critical Home Repair Program, HopeBUILDERS completed 27 projects for 20 clients in the greater Kansas City Metro area. The projects included two new roofs, exterior siding replacement, exterior door replacement, gutter work, plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs, floor replacements and several exterior house painting projects (completed by summer youth groups). Major projects, like roof replacements, are completed by contractors and the majority of other projects are completed by HopeBUILDERS volunteers and community volunteer groups. These repairs ensure that these homes will provide a more healthy and comfortable environment for the homeowners, allowing them to age in place or remain in the home of their choosing.
