Organizations Filed Purposes: ISES WORKS TO MEET HUMANITY'S NEEDS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION THROUGH A GLOBAL COMMUNITY OF EXPOSURE SCIENCE PROFESSIONALS. ISES ENCOURAGES THE OPEN EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION, PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT, ACKNOWLEDGES AND PROMOTES EXCELLENCE IN THE PRACTICE OF EXPOSURE ASSESSMENTS AND RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF EXPOSURE SCIENCE.

THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF EXPOSURE SCIENCE'S MISSION STATEMENT REFLECTS ITS DEDICATION TO PROMOTING, PROTECTING, AND ENHANCING THE ROLE OF EXPOSURE SCIENCE IN DIVERSE FIELDS AND PROFESSIONAL DISCIPLINES ACROSS ACADEMIA, GOVERNMENT, INDUSTRY, AND POLICY MAKERS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE SOCIETY SHALL BE TO FOSTER AND ADVANCE THE SCIENCE NEEDED TO ANALYZE ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION LEADING TO EXPOSURE RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION IN HUMAN POPULATIONS AND ECOSYSTEMS; PROMOTE COMMUNICATION AMONG EXPOSURE ANALYSTS EPIDEMIOLOGISTS, TOXICOLOGISTS, AND OTHER SCIENTISTS; RECOMMEND APPROACHES TO IMPROVE METHODS; AND STRENGTHEN THE IMPACT OF EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT AND ANALYSIS ON ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY.

ANNUAL CONFERENCES (INCLUDING CONFERENCE MANAGEMENT):ISES HOLDS AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE EACH YEAR. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE BRINGS TOGETHER SCIENTISTS FROM THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TO EXCHANGE IDEAS AND METHODS FOR RESEARCH IN EXPOSURE SCIENCE. IT PROVIDES A FORUM FOR COMMUNICATION OF CURRENT EPIDEMIOLOGIC RESEARCH, FACILITATES INTERNATIONAL COLLABOROATION IN RESEARCH AND TRAINING, AND HIGHLIGHTS EMERGING GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ISSUES. MOST ISES ANNUAL CONFERENCES ARE HELD IN THE UNITED STATES, APPROXIMATELY EVERY 3 TO 4 YEARS THE CONFERENCE IS HELD OUTSIDE NORTH AMERICA TO PROVIDE ACCESS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP.

OFFICIAL JOURNAL:THE OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE ISES IS THE JOURNAL OF EXPOSURE SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL EPIDEMIOLOGY.ALL MEMBERS RECEIVE A ONE-YEAR ONLINE ONLY SUBSCRIPTION TO THIS BI-MONTHLY, PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL FOR EACH YEAR OF MEMBERSHIP. MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY MAINTAIN EDITORIAL CONTROL OF THE JOURNAL. THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF AND ASSOCIATE EDITORS FOR REVIEWS ARE SOCIETY MEMBERS. THE SOCIETY PAYS THE JOURNAL PUBLISHER, SPINGERNATURE, A PER-COPY COST FOR EACH ISSUE PROVIDED TO MEMBERS. ISES PROVIDED TRAVEL AWARDS TO ISES STUDENT AND NEW RESEARCHER MEMBERS ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE AND PRESENTING THEIR SCIENTIFIC WORK THROUGH POSTERS AND ABSTRACTS. A POSTER COMPETITION FOR ISES STUDENTS ALSO PROVIDED CASH AWARDS FOR THE MOST OUTSTANDING POSTER PRESENTATIONS.SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENT AWAREDS PROGRAM-ISES RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING SCIENTISTS WITH FOUR AWARDS. MOST OF THESE ARE AWARDED ANNUALLY. NOMINATIONS FOR EACH OF THESE AWARDS ARE SOLICITED ANNUALLY FROM THE MEMBERSHIP, AND THE AWARDS ARE PRESENTED AT THE ANNUAL ISES CONFERENCE. THE ISES AWARDS COMMITTEE PUBLICIZES THE AWARDS THROUGH THE SOCIETY WEBSITE, EMAIL, AND OTHER CHANNELS, REVIEWS AND SELECTS THE AWARDEES, AND ADMINISTERS THE AWARDS. THE JERMOE J. WESOLOWSKI AWARDS RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF HUMAN EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT. THE AWARDEE RECEIVES $2,500 AND PRESENTS THE WESOLOWSKI LECTURE AT THE ISES ANNUAL CONFERENCE. THE JOAN M. DAISEY OUTSTANDING YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCIENCE OF HUMAN EXPOSURE ANALYSIS BY A YOUNG SCIENTIST. THE AWARDEE RECEIVES AN ISES MEMBERSHIP FOR ONE YEAR AND $1,000. THE CONSTANCE L. MEHLMAN AWARD RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS IN EXPOSURE ANALYSIS RESEARCH THAT HELPED SHAPE A NATIONAL OR STATE POLICY OR THAT PROVIDED NEW APPROACHES FOR REDUCTION OR PREVENTION OF EXPOSURES. THIS AWARD IS PRESENTED EVERY OTHER YEAR OR LESS FREQUENTLY, BASED ON NOMINATIONS RECEIVED. THE AWARDEE RECEIVES $2,000.WEBSITE-THE PUBLIC ISES WEBSITE CONTAINS INFORMATION ABOUT THE HISTORY AND ORGANIZATION OF THE SOCIETY, E.G., OFFICERS AND COUNCELORS, COMMITTEES, BY-LAWS, CURRENT AND PAST SOCIETY CONFERENCES; EMPLOYEMENT OPPORTUNITIES, OTHER EVENTS OF INTEREST, SOCIETY AWARDS, AN EXPOSURE SCIENCE GLOSSARY AND A SECTION FOR STUDENTS AND NEW RESEARCHERS.
