Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to provide a clean, comfortable shelter for homeless, abused, lost, and abandoned animals in our community. We attempt to place as many animals as possible in loving and responsible homes and to humanely euthanize those animals not adopted.
SPAY/NEUTERING OF ANIMALS BEFORE ADOPTION AND LOW COST AVAILABLE TO THE COMMUNITY: We offer a low cost spay/neuter program to the general public. We operate a clinic ourselves and employ a vet and vet technicians. This program benefits our community by offering them a service that they might not be able to afford otherwise. We altered approximately 7,200 animals in 2018. This program is a huge part of our success. We require all animals to be spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. Until pet overpopulation numbers are decreased through spay and neuter programs, the euthanasia numbers will continue to rise. ANIMAL TRANSPORTS/RESCUES: We work with many 501c3 rescue groups and Humane Societies in the Northeastern United States. Without these groups, we would euthanize thousands more animals each year. In 2018 we sent over 3,500 animals to shelters up north that needed animals to fill their adoption facilities. The groups that we work with are all in areas that have very strict spay/neuter legislation and their shelters have openings that we are able to fill. It is an amazing coalition that helps us save thousands of animals lives. Rescues reimburse us for medical costs in this program. VACCINATIONS: Every animal we intake recieves a DA2ppv vaccine and a dose of flea/tick preventative. These vaccines are recommended by the National Shelter Veterinary Program. It is a must to control diseases within our shelter. We also offer vaccinations to the genreal public when we spay or neuter their pets. The rabies vaccine is required by Kentucky State Law and other booster vaccines are highly recommended by the Kentucky KVMA.
