WOMEN'S CRISIS CENTER IS A FOUNDATIONAL COMMUNITY AGENCY PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMMING AND SERVICES FOR PEOPLE IMPACTED BY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, RAPE AND SEXUAL ABUSE. WE PROVIDE THREE AREAS OF SUPPORT, NON-RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMMING, PUBLIC EDUCATION, AND EMERGENCY SHELTER.
WCC's Emergency Shelter Program provides temporary safe and confidential shelter to families and individuals experiencing domestic violence. While staying with WCC people have access to all Non- residential services and community partnerships, as well as goal oriented case management to make the transition to safe and self-sufficient lives. While in shelter people receive trauma informed care, such as, immediate crisis intervention, housing and economic advocacy, safety planning, support groups counseling and more. The goal of this holistic support is to increase skills, tools and support to make self-sufficiency and safety possible. WCC also offers a Pet Protection program which places pets in 'safe houses' while someone resides with WCC. This reduces barriers for people to escape violence and affords all members of a family safety, including pets.
THE NON-RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS IN THE COMMUNITY IMPACTED BY VIOLENCE THROUGH CRISIS INTERVENTION, SAFETY PLANNING, INDIVIDUAL AND/OR GROUP COUNSELING, COURT AND HOSPITAL ADVOCACY FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN. WOMEN'S CRISIS CENTER IS ACCESSIBLE BY 24-HOUR HOTLINE, OR IN PERSON, NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY.
WCC's public education program offers the violence prevention strategy Green Dot, available to high schools, colleges, businesses, agencies and communities. WCC teaches people to be active bystanders, incorporating moments of prevention in their daily lives resulting in safer communities. Green Dot is a comprehensive program recognized nationally and WCC is leading the way in these efforts, through their high school program, city initiatives and training of KY state government. WCC seeks to engage every member of the community in the philosophy, "No one has to do everything, but everyone can do something to end violence"
