CSBG/ LIHEAP- THROUGHOUT THE SERVICE YEAR, WE HELP MANY CLIENTS WITH DIFFERENT CHALLENGES IN THEIR LIVES. FOR INSTANCE, OUR SENIOR CENTER IN VANCEBURG IDENTIFIED A GENTLEMAN WHILE PROVIDING CSBG AND LIHEAP SERVICES THAT WAS IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. ALONG WITH LIHEAP CRISIS, FALL & SUMMER SUBSIDY WE WERE ALSO ABLE TO ASSIST WITH THE WEATHERIZATION OF HIS HOME AND PROVIDE HIM COVID 19 SENIOR MEALS. WHILE PROVIDING THESE SERVICES IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE VETERAN, WHO IS A LEG AMPUTEE, WAS IN NEED OF A SAFE WHEEL CHAIR RAMP AT HIS RESIDENCE. OUR STAFF AT THE VANCEBURG SENIOR CENTER REACH OUT TO THE VA TO TRY AND FIND ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE FOR THIS CLIENT. AS A RESULT, THE VA INSTALLED A VERY NICE AND SAFE WHEEL CHAIR RAMP AT THE RESIDENCE FOR THE VETERAN.

TRANSPORTATION - WITH THE START OF THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC AND SERVICES BEING SHUT DOWN THROUGHOUT OUR COUNTRY WE STILL PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION FOR CLIENTS OF OUR SERVICE AREA. IN THE START OF THE PANDEMIC WE HAD RECEIVED A REQUEST FOR SERVICES FROM AN INDIVIDUAL THAT HAD LOST THEIR TRANSPORTATION DUE TO THE PANDEMIC STARTING FOR DIALYSIS. WE WERE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THE CLIENT AND PROVIDE SERVICE THE NEXT DAY FOR THEIR SCHEDULED DIALYSIS APPOINTMENT. THIS HAPPENED VERY FREQUENTLY FOR OUR TRANSPORTATION SERVICES IN THE SPRING OF 2020 AND WE WERE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE ALL THE NEEDS OF OUR SERVICE AREA.

COMMUNITY COLLABORATION FOR CHILDREN - WITH OUR COMMUNITY COLLABORATION FOR CHILDREN PROGRAM. THE IN-HOME SERVICE SPECIALIST, TOGETHER WITH THE COMMUNITY PARTNERS, WORKS TOGETHER TO HELP EACH FAMILY MEET THEIR SPECIFIC GOALS. WE HAVE HAD A YEAR OF UNCERTAINLY CAUSE BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. OUR GOAL IS TO HELP FAMILIES DEAL WITH THEIR IMMEDIATE NEEDS. ONE FAMILY WAS CONCERN ABOUT HOW THEIR CHILDREN WAS GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO VIRTUAL LEARNING, THEY HAD NO IDEA WHERE TO GET THE SUPPLIES THEY NEED TO HELP THEIR CHILDREN TO DO THE VIRTUAL LEARNING. WITH THE HELP OF THE SPECIALIST AND THE COMMUNITY PARTNERS, THE FAMILY WAS ABLE TO GET EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO SET UP VIRTUAL LEARNING FOR THE CHILDREN.
