The Northern Kentucky Education Council is the backbone organization for alignment of education initiatives in Northern Kentucky. The Council serves as a catalyst for collaboration, change, and progress to
Resilient & Ready - This program is provided to districts as a tool to help students who feel victimized. Students surveyed were from seven different districts and totaled over 30,000. We have surveyed students yearly since 2017 and the percentage of student reporting "severe" levels of victimization consistently decreased across all school levels. There was a significant reduction in high school students reporting significant distress associated with alcohol/drug use compared to the 2018 data. The Resilient & Ready program ensures each student is hopeful and has a feeling of well-being. With the help of guidance counselors, teachers provide a plan for each student based on the poll's results.
One to One - This is a reading program under our Reducing Barriers to Education coalition. We had 130 coaches who volunteer to go into the schools and read with one child once a week. We provide a kit to each coach with games and tools for helping the student with reading skills. We serve 13 districts and 32 schools with this program. Our goal is to grow the program and serve possibly 500 students in our community. The students not only are working on their reading skills but also gaining a friend by the end of the school year.
