THE PROGRAM PROVIDED 51,326 NIGHTS OF LODGING AND 177,241 MEALS SERVED. THE WOMEN'S RECOVERY HAD 298 WOMEN ENTER THE PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM PROVIDED 31,266 NIGHTS OF LODGING AND 93,798 MEALS SERVED. FOLLOW UP STUDIES INDICATE THE MEN HAVE A CONTUINING SOBRIETY RATE OF 65% AT ONE YEAR WHILE THE WOMEN MAINTAIN A 70% SOBRIETY RATE.
SHELTER SERVICES PROVIDES CAFATERIA OR MEETING ROOMS BY DAY, BY NIGHT IT BRINGS HOPE CENTER'S CAPACITY TO 145. RARELY PROVIDED FOR IN GRANTS, IT SUBSISTS ALMOST ENTIRELY ON DONATIONS. THE SHELTER PROVIDED 40,479 NIGHTS OF LODGING AND SERVED 96,525 MEALS.
MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM IS TO ASSIST MEN WHO MIGHT HAVE ONCE BEEN INSTITUTIONALIZED IN LIVING IN THE INTERMEDIATE HOUSING SECTION OF THE HOPE CENTER, RECIEVING COUNSELING AND TRAINING, IDEALY FOR ONE TO TWO YEARS, BEFORE BEING PLACED IN THE COMMUNITY. THE HOPE CENTER'S PSYCHIATRIC AND SOCIAL SERVCIES ALSO EXTEND TO MEN AND WOMEN RESIDING ELSEWHERE IN THE COMMUNITY. SERIOUS AND PERSISTENT MENTAL ILLNESS IS WHAT KEEPS AS MANY AS 25% OF ALL HOMELESS PEOPLE LIVING ON THE STREET, THE MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM PROVIDED AN AVERAGE OF OVER 2,000 SERVICES EACH MONTH.
