The organization is a Christ-centered ministry that meets the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of hurting people in the greater Lexington are. Its activities are focused on rebuilding lives.
OUTREACH SERVICES - IN 2020, WE SERVED 44,302 MEALS TO HUNGRY MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN. WE ALSO HAD 1,434 PEOPLE WHO CAME TO OUR WALK-IN HOURS FOR ASSISTANCE MEETING THEIR BASIC NEEDS, INCLUDING 979 PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED CLOTHING, 981 PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED HYGIENE PRODUCTS, 446 PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED CLEANING SUPPLIES, 925 PEOPLE RECEIVED EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES, 22 PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, 33 PEOPLE WHO OBTAINED BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND/OR IDS, 158 PEOPLE WHO WERE ASSESSED AND ADDED TO THE COMMUNITY'S WAITING LIST FOR HOUSING ASSISTANCE, AND 15 CLIENTS WERE BROUGHT TO LONG-TERM TREATMENT PROGRAMS. THROUGH OUR HOMELESS INTERVENTION AND RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAMS, WE MOVED 56 HOMELESS HOUSEHOLDS, INCLUDING 67 ADULTS AND 34 CHILDREN, INTO PERMANENT HOUSING. FURTHERMORE, 86 PEOPLE ATTENDED CHAPEL SERVICES, 92 PEOPLE ATTENDED STEADY HANDS, OUR WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP GROUP, AND 50 PEOPLE RECEIVED PASTORAL COUNSELING.
RESTORATIVE SERVICES - MEN WHO WERE TRYING TO GET BACK ON THEIR FEET AFTER HOMELESSNESS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, INCARCERATION, OR JUST FALLING ON HARD TIMES HAD WARM BEDS AND A SAFE PLACE TO CALL HOME IN OUR TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM. IN 2020, WE PROVIDED TRANSITIONAL HOUSING TO 113 MEN. WHEN RESIDENTS FIRST COME INTO THE PROGRAM, THEY MOVE INTO A DORMITORY-STYLE LIVING ENVIRONMENT AT THE POTTER'S HOUSE WHILE THEY SETTLE IN, STABILIZE, AND SECURE EMPLOYMENT. RESIDENTS ARE THEN MOVED INTO MORE PRIVATE ROOMS AT THE HOUSE OF HOPE AFTER THEY HAVE COMPLETED PHASE ONE. GOALS FOR OUR RESIDENTS INCLUDE SECURING EMPLOYMENT, MAINTAINING SOBRIETY, COMPLETING OUR JOB-READINESS COURSE, LEARNING TO LIVE WITHIN A BUDGET, MEETING WITH A CASE MANAGER ON A REGULAR BASIS, AND BUILDING A POSITIVE SOCIAL NETWORK, INCLUDING RECONNECTING WITH FAMILY. WE ALSO OPENED OUR NEW TRANSITIONAL HOME FOR WOMEN, GRACE PLACE, IN DECEMBER 2020.
ADVANCE LEXINGTON - We help individuals obtain employment through job placement services. We partner with local businesses who hire workers on a temporary basis through our staffing service as well as on a permanent basis. Our staff conducts initial employment assessments to help clients identify potential employers, and program participants receive help with their job search, including assistance with creating resumes and cover letters, filling out online job applications, obtaining IDs, procuring interview attire and work clothing, getting bus passes, and other needs.
