CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF LOUISVILLE SERVES PEOPLE IN NEED, ADVOCATES FOR JUSTICE IN SOCIAL STRUCTURES, AND CALLS THE ENTIRE CHURCH AND OTHERS OF GOODWILL TO DO THE SAME. WE WELCOME, STRENGTHEN, AND EMPOWER INDIVIDUALS TO CHANGE THE WORLD FOR GOOD, ONE RELATIONSHIP AT A TIME.

REFUGEE PROGRAMS: RECEPTION AND RESETTLEMENT NETWORK, PROVIDING DIRECT CASH AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AS KENTUCKY RECIPIENT OF FEDERAL WILSON-FISH GRANT FUNDS. WE HAVE BEEN RESETTLING REFUGEES IN THE METRO AREA SINCE 1975 AS KENTUCKY'S OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UNITED STATES CATHOLIC CONFERENCE OF BISHOPS (USCCB), ONE OF NINE U.S. AGENCIES THAT HAS A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO RESETTLE REFUGEES. SINCE THEN WE HAVE RESETTLED MORE THAN 30,000 REFUGEES FROM MORE THAN 60 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. CCL REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM IS ONE OF FOUR LARGEST REFUGEE PROGRAMS WITHIN USCCB. IN FY2019 CCL HAS RESETTLED AND PROVIDED SERVICES TO 833 REFUGEES, SECONDARY MIGRANTS (REFUGEES RESETTLED ELSEWHERE IN THE US THAT MOVED TO LOUISVILLE), CUBAN-HAITIAN ENTRANTS AND CUBAN PAROLES, SPECIAL IMMIGRANT VISA HOLDERS, AND ASYLEES. THE OFFICE OF THE STATE REFUGEE COORDINATOR IS FOUND IN 49 STATES PLUS THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND CAN BE LOCATED WITHIN THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF STATE GOVERNMENT OR IN A PRIVATE AGENCY. CURRENTLY 35 STATE GOVERNMENTS ADMINISTER THE PROGRAM AND THE REMAINING 14 STATES ARE PRIVATELY MANAGED. KOR IS LARGEST PRIVATELY MANAGED PROGRAM AND KENTUCKY IS THE 10TH LARGEST STATEWIDE PROGRAM IN THE UNITED STATES. KOR FUNDING ASSISTS APPROXIMATELY 5,000 REFUGEES EACH YEAR. SERVICE PROVIDERS INCLUDE REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT AGENCIES, COMMUNITY COLLEGES, PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENTS, FEDERAL QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS (FQHC), UNIVERSITIES, URGENT CARE PROVIDERS AND OTHER MAINSTREAM SERVICE PROVIDERS. KOR MANAGES REFUGEE CASH ASSISTANCE (RCA) FOR NEWLY ARRIVED REFUGEES WHO ARE SINGLE ADULTS OR MARRIED COUPLES WITHOUT MINOR CHILDREN; THESE ARE REFUGEES INELIGIBLE FOR THE STATE'S TANF PROGRAM. ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE EMPLOYMENT AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING, CULTURAL ORIENTATION, SPECIALIZED TRAINING PROGRAMS, SERVICES TO OLDER REFUGEES AND CITIZENSHIP PROGRAMS. YOUTH FUNDING PROVIDES YOUTH MENTORING SERVICES, EMPLOYMENT FOR YOUTH AGES 16-21 AND FUNDS PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO ADDRESS THE LANGUAGE, ACADEMIC AND CULTURAL ADJUSTMENT NEEDS OF NEWLY ARRIVED REFUGEE YOUTH.THE STATE REFUGEE HEALTH COORDINATOR (SRHC) UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE SRC MANAGES THE REFUGEE HEALTH SCREENING, VACCINE PROGRAMS AND DATA SURVEILLANCE FOR NEWLY ARRIVED REFUGEES. THE SRHC COORDINATES WITH THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENTS, FQHCS, UNIVERSITIES AND URGENT CARE CENTER PROVIDERS. MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS FOR REFUGEES INCLUDE THE TRAINING OF COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS AND REFUGEE LEADERS FOCUSING ON COMMUNITY WELLNESS. HEALTH CARE PROVIDER SUPPORT INCLUDES TRAUMA INFORMED CARE AND THE MENTAL HEALTH TOOLKIT. THE KENTUCKY OFFICE OF REFUGEES SERVED A TOTAL OF 2900 ARRIVALS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED 2019.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISES: CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES: TRANSLATION SERVICES, CULINARY ARTS TRAINING, AND IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES: CATHOLIC CHARITIES PROVIDES FEE-BASED TRANSLATION SERVICES, JOB TRAINING, AND IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES. THESE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ACTIVITIES GENERATE REVENUE THAT SUPPORTS, IN PART, THE OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES OF THE AGENCY. COMMON TABLE (CT) IS ONE OF TWO SOCIAL ENTERPRISES OF CATHOLIC CHARITIES THAT WAS LAUNCHED IN JUNE OF 2015 IN THE KITCHEN OF THE ST. ANTHONY'S SCHOOL IN WEST LOUISVILLE. IN MAY OF 2020 COMMON TABLE WILL MOVE TO A NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY OF DARE TO CARE. THE MISSION OF COMMON TABLE IS TO WORK TO HELP REDUCE POVERTY IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH JOB TRAINING. IT PROVIDES TRAINING IN THE CULINARY ARTS TO THOSE WHO FACE BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT, EMPOWERING THEM TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN THEIR CAREERS AND PERSONAL LIVES. DURING THE 8-WEEK PROGRAM, STUDENTS LEARN THE BASICS OF WORKING IN THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY AND OBTAIN LOUISVILLE METRO FOOD SERVICE MANAGER'S CERTIFICATION. COMMON TABLE OFFERS CATERING OF BOX LUNCHES AND A VARIETY OF SOUPS DAILY MADE BY CT EXECUTIVE CHEF AND STUDENTS. CT, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ST. AGNES AND GOOD SHEPHERD PARISHES, PROVIDES FREE LUNCHES ONCE A MONTH TO THE WEST LOUISVILLE RESIDENTS THROUGH THE TABLE OF PLENTY PROJECT AND SERVES 2,505 LUNCHES ANNUALLY. IN ADDITION TO THIS, CT PROVIDED HEALTHY EATING EDUCATION TO 71 RESIDENTS.LANGUAGE SERVICES (LS) IS THE OLDEST SOCIAL ENTERPRISE OF CATHOLIC CHARITIES THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR MORE THAN 22 YEARS. IT WAS CREATED OUT OF NEED TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE SERVICES TO CCL REFUGEE CLIENTS. LS CONTINUES TO FOUR PROGRAMS OF CCL BUT ALSO WIDER COMMUNITY. LANGUAGE SERVICES IS COMMITTED TO BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH COMMUNICATION AND ITS MISSION IS TO REMOVE LANGUAGE BARRIERS FOR OUR LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENT CLIENTS, EXPEND AND DIVERSIFY REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT CAPACITY IN THE LOUISVILLE METRO AREA, PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND SUPPLEMENTAL INCOME FOR CLIENTS, AND GENERATES REVENUE FOR OTHER CATHOLIC CHARITIES PROGRAMS. LS NETWORK HAS MORE THAN 110 INTERPRETERS REPRESENTING 32 SPOKEN LANGUAGES WHO, ON AVERAGE, PROVIDE 1,000 IN-PERSON, OVER-THE-PHONE AND/OR VIDEO INTERPRETING APPOINTMENTS PER MONTH. CCL LS IS A RECIPIENT OF AN OFFICE OF VICTIMS OF CRIME GRANT THE GOAL OF WHICH IS TO INCREASE CAPACITY OF SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF CRIME WHO HAVE LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY, AND WHO ARE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING.IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES' (ILS) VISION IS TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF THEIR CLIENTS UNDER THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES AND HELP THEM TO ACCESS ALL THE FREEDOMS OF OUR SOCIETY. ILS PROVIDES LEGAL ASSISTANCE AND COUNSELING TO LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES. AS PART OF CCL'S MISSION TO "WELCOME THE STRANGER," ILS STRIVES TO HELP FOREIGN-BORN INDIVIDUALS FACING OBSTACLES TO FAMILY UNITY AND/OR DIMINISHED PERSONAL, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE OF THEIR IMMIGRATION STATUS. IN 2019 ILS HAS FILED 1,338 FOR A TOTAL OF MORE THAN 3,300 INDIVIDUALS.

CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES: CATHOLIC CHARITIES PROVIDES DIRECT CASH AND MATERIAL ASSISTANCE AND CASE MANAGEMENT TO RESIDENTS OF ONE OF LOUISVILLE'S MOST ECONOMICALLY DISTRESSED AREAS. LOCAL CHARITABLE AND SOCIAL SERVICES: ELDERCARE SERVICES, ADOPTION AND WOMEN'S SERVICES, PARISH SOCIAL AND MINISTRY AND OTHER SERVICES TO THE POOR AND VULNERABLE. THE SISTER VISITOR CENTER IS AN EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES THE MOST BASIC OF HUMAN NEEDS: FOOD, CLOTHES, ASSISTANCE WITH RENT, UTILITIES, FURNITURE, AND MEDICINES. A DARE TO CARE FOOD PROVIDER, IT SERVES AS THE AREA COMMUNITY MINISTRIES AFFILIATE FOR ALL LOUISVILLE RESIDENTS LIVING WEST OF 9TH STREET AND NORTH OF BROADWAY.THE SISTER VISITOR CENTER BEGAN IN 1969 TO HELP MEET THE NEEDS OF THOSE LIVING IN THE PORTLAND, SHAWNEE AND RUSSELL NEIGHBORHOODS OF WEST LOUISVILLE. THE HEART OF THE SISTER VISITOR CENTER LIES IN THE COMMAND OF CHRIST TO FEED THE HUNGRY, CLOTHE THE NAKED AND SHELTER THE HOMELESS.IN FY 2019 SVC PROVIDED FOOD ASSISTANCE TO 334 CASES AND 2,546 INDIVIDUALS AND RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO 725 CASES AND 1,955 INDIVIDUALS IN THE AMOUNT OF $157,538.
