Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our Support Fund continues to see an increase in need of people seeking assistance for their abortion every year. In 2019 we supported 991 callers up from 638 in 2018. 469 called received procedure assistance. 139 callers received transportation assistance. 35 callers received lodging assistance. 10 callers received language interpretation services and 7 callers received childcare assistance. All Access EKY continues to grow partnerships in Eastern Kentucky. In 2019 they built relationships with 10 new partners, created an advisory board of 10 highly skilled medical professionals, reached more than 1,000 people at 35 community events and distributed 2,000 materials to 20 different clinics across Eastern Kentucky. Our Trans Health Program saw a 200% increase in people assisted, from 60 in 2018 to 170 in 2019. We are working to create more programming to get the information out about our Trans Health Program. This year we had our first Virtual Trans Health Wellness series, a month long series of discussions and workshops covering topics affecting Trans Kentuckians such as Surgical Options, Basics of HRT and Sexual Wellness. We also launched our Surgical Grant program where we will offer one person each quarter assistance towards their gender affirming procedure. We had our first virtual Take Root conference October 17th and 18th. We took ownership of this conference in 2019 and felt it was very important for us to uphold the traditions of Take Root by honoring Indigenous people, and the stolen land we occupy. We were also excited for this opportunity to uplift historical and contemporary movement work by and for Black and immigrant communities in Kentucky, and the South, as well as in poor rural communities where poverty and addiction thrive in counties with no treatment, or prenatal care available. This allows us to better realize that power rooted in Red State activism must be cultivated in order to propel a movement towards achieving reproductive justice. We had 150 attendees and speakers from across the country participating. We are looking forward to an in person Take Root conference in 2021 where we will be able to grow our attendee numbers and content.
