TO CULTURALLY ENRICH, EDUCATE AND ENTERTAIN RESIDENTS OF NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND GREATER CINCINNATI THROUGH UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE PERFORMANCES DESIGNED TO MAKE SYMPHONIC MUSIC ATTRACTIVE, ASSESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE, REACHING NEARLY 24,300 PEOPLE THIS YEAR.
Summer Park Series includes three free outdoor programs from July through September to an average of 13,500 attendees. Held in the family-friendly setting of Covington, KY's Devou Park for the past 25 years, these casual concerts welcome and entertain families and individuals of all socio-economic backgrounds.
The Subscription Concert Series spans October through May, and features five programs offered in venues throughout Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio including Greaves Concert Hall, (Highland Heights, Ky) Notre Dame Academy, (Park Hills, KY) and St. Peter in Chains Cathedral (Cincinnati, OH impacting more than 2,000 patrons. These concerts are the sole source of earned ticket revenue, affordably priced at $9.50 to $35 each ticket. Subscription Series concerts showcase the orchestras most musically challenging and aesthetically creative performances and remains the basis for program structure, artistic development, and musical growth. Without it, the Education Outreach Series and Summer Park Series both free would not be possible.
Free Education Outreach Series runs from October through April. KSOs comprehensive education efforts reached 4,136 Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati students/teachers, grades 3-12 from 9 counties and 54 schools this season. 57% of participants were considered economically disadvantaged. These free programs introduce and showcase classical music and its derivatives and help fill a gap left by many schools' curriculum. For over 25 years this series has consistently provided teachers with kid-centered, engaging programs they need to help their students succeed.
