Organizations Filed Purposes: BEVERLY BOOTSTRAPS COMMUNITY SERVICES PROVIDES CRITICAL RESOURCES TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS SO THEY MAY ACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS EMERGENCY AND LONG-TERM ASSISTANCE INCLUDING: ACCESS TO FOOD, HOUSING STABILITY, ADULT AND YOUTH EDUCATION, COUNSELING AND ADVOCACY. THE ORGANIZATION IS COMMUNITY FUNDED AND SUPPORTED.

THE FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS PROVIDE EMERGENCY FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED THROUGH A PANTRY VISIT OR DELIVERY MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. DURING FY20, THE FOOD PANTRY SERVED 3,937 INDIVIDUALS (1,626 HOUSEHOLDS) WITH 338,680 LBS OF FOOD DISTRIBUTED IN 8942 VISITS. DURING FY20, THE MOBILE MARKET SERVED 860 INDIVIDUALS WITH 54,800 LBS. OF FOOD. THE SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM DISTRIBUTED 5,217 LBS OF FOOD TO 114 HOUSEHOLDS IN 475 VISITS TO FAMILIES WITH SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN IN NEED OF EXTRA FOOD DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. THE WEEKEND BAG PROGRAM DELIVERED 3,080 SNACK BAGS TO 161 CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS IN BEVERLY. THANKSGIVING MEAL INGREDIENTS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO 464 HOUSEHOLDS. A NEW PROGRAM NAMED GRAB-N-GO WAS CREATED FOR CLIENTS WHO HAVE NO REFRIGERATION OR COOKING FACILITIES. FIFTY INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED GRAB-N-GO AT LEAST ONCE DURING FY20. THE FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS HAVE RUN IN A MODIFIED FORMAT SINCE MARCH 2020 DUE TO COVID-19.

THE THRIFT SHOP SELLS DONATED CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS AT VERY LOW PRICES OR ACCEPTS VOUCHERS FROM CLIENTS, WHICH HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY CASE MANAGERS FOR FREE ITEMS BASED ON NEED. DURING FY20, CLIENTS REDEEMED VOUCHERS VALUED AT 5,215. THE THRIFT SHOP WAS CLOSED FROM MARCH 13TH UNTIL JUNE 17TH DUE TO COVID-19.

DIRECT SERVICES INCLUDE CLIENT SUPPORT, ADULT EDUCATION, YOUTH AND FAMILY AND TAX PREPARATION. CASE MANAGERS HELP CLIENTS COPE WITH COMPLEX AND ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGING SITUATIONS, FIND RESOURCES AND CONNECT TO SERVICES. TYPES OF ASSISTANCE INCLUDE: INTAKE AND BUDGET ASSESSMENT, HOUSING STABILITY, HEAT AND UTILITY RESOURCES, ACCESS TO CLOTHING AND GOODS, AND ACCESSING LOCAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS FUEL ASSISTANCE. DURING FY20, 791 CLIENTS WERE ASSISTED. ADULT EDUCATION INCLUDES HISET TEST PREPARATION, ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES, COMPUTER TRAINING, ADULT LITERACY AND JOB READINESS. DURING FY20, THE AGENCY SERVED 101 HISET STUDENTS (OF WHICH 13 GRADUATED), OVER 49 ESOL STUDENTS AND ASSISTED 46 PEOPLE WITH RESUME WRITING OR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS OR ADDITIONAL TUTORING. YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES INCLUDE AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK CLUBS, YOUTH LITERACY, HOLIDAY GIFTS, BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND SUMMER CAMP PLACEMENT. DURING FY20, 24 CHILDREN WERE ENROLLED IN AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK CLUBS, 637 CHILDREN RECEIVED HOLIDAY GIFTS, AND 602 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES WERE DISTRIBUTED. THE EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT (EITC) OUTREACH PROGRAM PROVIDES WORKING LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITH FREE TAX PREPARATION. DURING FY20, 192 TAX RETURNS WERE FILED RESULTING IN 347,514 REFUNDS TO CLIENTS; WITH 139,862 AS A DIRECT RESULT OF EITC FUNDS. CLIENT SUPPORT SERVICES WERE MODIFIED TO A REMOTE MODEL SINCE MARCH 2020 AND ADULT EDUCATION, YOUTH AND FAMILY AND FREE TAX PREPARATION SERVICES WERE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED IN MARCH 2020 DUE TO COVID-19.
