ANNUAL CONFERENCE - THE ANNUAL NCRG CONFERENCE ON GAMBLING AND ADDICTION IS ATTENDED BY 250 TREATMENT PROVIDERS, RESEARCHERS, STUDENTS, PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS, REGULATORS AND MEMBERS OF THE GAMING INDUSTRY. TOPICS INCLUDED MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING, ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY, THE NEUROSCIENCE OF GAMBLING, TREATMENT-SEEKING BEHAVIOR, ECONOMIC AND PUBLIC HEALTH PERSPECTIVES, EVIDENCE-BASED TREATMENT GUIDE, FIRST NATIONS APPROACH TO GAMBLING, MILITARY VETERANS AND GAMBLING PROBLEMS, 12-STEP PROGRAMS, GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES, GAMESENSE, BETONU, SPORTS BETTING, AND SCREENING AND BRIEF INTERVENTION FOR CLIENTS IN CONSUMER CREDIT COUNSELING.

RESEARCH GRANTS - THE NCRG OPERATES A PEER-REVIEWED RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF INDEPENDENT PEER REVIEWERS AND A SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD OF INDEPENDENT EXPERTS WHO MAKE THE FINAL DECISIONS ABOUT GRANT AWARDS. IN 2018, THE NCRG AWARDED EARLY STAGE INVESTIGATOR GRANTS, LARGE GRANTS, SEED GRANTS AND TRAVEL GRANTS.

EDUCATION - THE NCRG TEAMED WITH THE G2E ONLINE EDUCATION CENTER TO SPONSOR TWO FREE WEBINARS THAT REACHED ABOUT 500 ATTENDEES: "I THINK, THEREFORE, I AM A COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST AND "EDUCATING PATRONS AND EMPLOYEES ABOUT RESPONSIBLE GAMING: WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SAY." THE NCRG COLLABORATED WITH SANDIA RESORT & CASINO TO SPONSOR A TWO-DAY CONFERENCE, "GAMBLING DISORDER & ADDICTION: TREATMENT, PREVENTION AND EDUCATION," FOR TREATMENT PROVIDERS IN NEW MEXICO. TOPICS INCLUDED NEW TRENDS IN GAMBLING RESEARCH, RESPONSIBLE GAMING, MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING, WELLBRIETY AND WORKING WITH CLIENTS WHO DON'T WANT TO QUIT GAMBLING. CHRISTINE REILLY, SENIOR RESEARCH DIRECTOR, SPOKE AT THE ILLINOIS COUNCIL ON PROBLEM GAMBLING ANNUAL CONFERENCE.COMMUNICATION - NCRG'S COMMUNICATIONS FUNCTION INCLUDES ACTIVITIES WHICH SUPPORT THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DIMENSION OF NCRG'S MISSION BY EMPLOYING TOOLS SUCH AS WEBINARS, BLOGS, AND MONOGRAPHS TO REACH TARGET AUDIENCES. NCRG STRIVES TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF GAMBLING DISORDER; PROVIDE MEANINGFUL RESEARCH-BASED EDUCATION FOR CLINICIANS, HEALTH PROVIDERS, AND THE GAMING INDUSTRY; AND PROMOTE A LIVELY EXCHANGE OF IDEAS WITHIN THE FIELD OF GAMBLING RESEARCH.
