BOSTON DANCE ALLIANCE ("BDA") SUPPORTS THE DANCE COMMUNITY THAT INVIGORATES BOSTON THROUGH THIS LIVING AND DYNAMIC ART FORM. TOWARD THAT END, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SERVICES THAT RAISE THE PROFILE OF DANCE, NURTURE ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE, AND ENHANCE THE EFFECTIVENESS AND VITALITY OF ITS INDIVIDUAL AND INSTITUTIONAL DUES-PAYING MEMBERS.
BDA MISSION AND PROGRAMS:BOSTON DANCE ALLIANCE BUILDS CAPACITY FOR DANCE BY IDENTIFYING AND CREATING SHARED RESOURCES, INFORMATION, AND PRODUCTIVE PARTNERSHIPS TO HELP DANCE FLOURISH ACROSS THE BOSTON METROPOLITAN AREA AND NEW ENGLAND REGION. BDA IS AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE ORGANIZATION REPRESENTING DANCERS, CHOREOGRAPHERS, TEACHERS, PRESENTERS, ALLIED ARTS AND CULTURAL PROFESSIONALS, ARTS JOURNALISTS AND SCHOLARS, WELLNESS AND HEALTH PROVIDERS, AND DANCE ENTHUSIASTS BROUGHT TOGETHER ACROSS DANCE GENRES AND GEOGRAPHIES. BDA ALSO STRIVES TO INCREASE CULTURAL EQUITY AND ACCESS TO DANCE FOR DIVERSE COMMUNITIES, BUILD DANCE AUDIENCES, AND PROMOTE QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY.BOSTON DANCE ALLIANCE'S SERVICES TO ITS MEMBERS AND THE BROADER DANCE COMMUNITY INCLUDE A RENTABLE, PORTABLE SPRUNG WOOD FLOOR, ENABLING DANCERS TO PRESENT THEIR WORK SAFELY IN ANY SETTING; A DANCEWEAR DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES SHOES AND CLOTHING TO FINANCIALLY DISADVANTAGED DANCERS; AN ANNUAL OPEN CALL AUDITION AND DANCER HEALTH DAY THAT SERVES DANCERS ACROSS A VARIETY OF GENRES; FISCAL SPONSORSHIP TO AID UNINCORPORATED COMPANIES AND DANCE PROJECTS IN RAISING FUNDS TO SUPPORT WORK THAT FURTHERS BDA'S CHARITABLE MISSION; THE BOSTON DANCEMAKERS RESIDENCY; ACCESS TO A HIGH-QUALITY HD VIDEO CAMERA SO THAT ARTISTS CAN DOCUMENT THEIR WORK; PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONSULTING AND WORKSHOPS; INFORMATION AND ADVOCACY FOR DANCERS WITH DISABILITIES; AND DISCOUNTS TO PERFORMANCES, CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, DANCEWEAR, HEALTH AND WELLNESS SERVICES, AND MORE.
FISCAL SPONSORSHIP:BOSTON DANCE ALLIANCE'S FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM ENABLES DANCERS AND DANCE-MAKERS IN THE COMMUNITY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR PURPOSES RELATED TO BDA'S CHARITABLE MISSION WITHOUT THE COMPLEXITIES AND OVERHEAD OF INCORPORATING AS A SEPARATE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.BDA FISCALLY-SPONSORED ARTISTS MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR GOVERNMENT, FOUNDATION, AND CORPORATE GRANTS THAT REQUIRE 501(C)(3) STATUS. DONORS WHO DESIGNATE CASH OR IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE SUPPORT OF A FISCALLY-SPONSORED ARTIST RECEIVE WRITTEN ACKNOWLEDGMENT FROM BDA OF THEIR CHARITABLE GIFTS, WHICH ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. BDA FISCAL SPONSORSHIPS CAN COVER ONE-TIME CREATIVE PROJECTS OR AN ESTABLISHED COMPANY'S LONG-RANGE, NON-COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE SCOPE OF BDA'S CHARITABLE MISSION.
