Organizations Filed Purposes: FENWAY CDC WORKS TO PRESERVE THE FENWAY AS A VIBRANT AND DIVERSE NEIGHBORHOOD BY DEVELOPING AFFORDABLE HOUSING, PROVIDING PROGRAMS THAT ENRICH LIVES, AND STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY VOICES.

FCDC IMPROVED THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING OF LOW-INCOME AND MODERATE-INCOME RESIDENTS BY HELPING THEM TO ACCESS AFFORDABLE HOUSING, SOCIAL SERVICES, EDUCATION, JOB SKILLS TRAINING, EMPLOYMENT, FINANCIAL EDUCATION, FRESH HEALTHY FOOD, HEALTH PROGRAMS, COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES. IN 2019, THE MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AWARDED FCDC $200,000 IN COMMUNITY INVESTMENT TAX CREDITS (CITC) IN RECOGNITION OF OUR WORK. CITC ENABLED FOUNDATIONS, NON-PROFITS, CORPORATIONS, AND INDIVIDUALS TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR FCDC TO IMPLEMENT ITS COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PLAN.

IN 2019, OUR WHOLLY-OWNED RENTAL PROPERTIES INCLUDE: 15-25 HEMENWAY HOUSING WHICH IS A 24 UNIT MIXED INCOME HOUSING DEVELOPMENT; FENWAY APARTMENTS, LLC WHICH COMPRISES 22 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING; FENWAY NS ACQUISITION, LLC WHICH COMPRISES 97 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING. ADDITIONALLY, THROUGH OUR HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AND ASSET MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS, FENWAY CDC CONTROLS ANOTHER SIX AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROPERTIES. FCDC ALSO PURSUED OPPORTUNITIES TO PRESERVE EXISTING AND BUILD NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING AS DESCRIBED IN SCHEDULE O UNDER OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES.

COMMUNITY PLANNING & ORGANIZING - IN 2019, FCDC WORKED WITH RESIDENTS, NON-PROFITS, AND CITY OFFICIALS TO RECOMMEND IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY'S HOUSING POLICY. OUR EFFORTS ADDRESSED THE CHALLENGES OF SHORT-TERM RENTALS AND THE NEED FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME RESIDENTS. RESIDENT LEADERS MONITORED THE DEVELOPMENTS OF PRIVATE DEVELOPERS, HOSPITALS, AND UNIVERSITIES AND SHARED COMMENTS AT COMMUNITY MEETINGS TO MITIGATE ANY NEGATIVE DEVELOPMENT IMPACT ON THE RESIDENTIAL AREA. FCDC ALSO EDUCATED RESIDENTS ABOUT HOMELESS PREVENTION AND TENANTS RIGHTS.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT - IN 2019, FCDC PROVIDED OVER 600 RESIDENTS WITH SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOMES. WE ACQUIRED AN EXPIRING USE PROPERTY PRESERVING 97 HOMES WHICH WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING TOWARD REHABBING. WE PURSUED OPPORTUNITIES TO BUILD AND PRESERVE NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING. FCDC COLLABORATED WITH DEVELOPERS AND INSTITUTIONS TO FORGE HOUSING PARTNERSHIPS TO CREATE FUTURE HOUSING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME FAMILIES & INDIVDUALS.
