Gardens for Health International works to provide lasting agricultural solutions to chronic childhood malnutrition
Health Center Program: Gardens for Health International works in partnership with 19 goverment health centers in 2 districts in Rwanda to provide targeted agricultural support and comprehensive health education to the caregivers of children suffering from malnutrition.
The Organization has been working with partner organizations to address critical health issues in Rwanda with three strategic partnerships, as follows: 1.- WORLD FOOD PROGRAMMES SCHOOL FEEDING PROJECT: The objective was to implement kitchen gardens and integrate nutrition education/life skills programming in 104 primary schools in the Southern and Western Provinces of Rwanda targeting 83,000 students. 2.- US EMBASSYS JULIA TAFTs FUND FOR KIGEME REFUGEE CAMP: The goal was to address the nutritional requirements of the most vulnerable members of the Kigeme Refugee Camp with children with malnutrition or at risk of it. 3.- KATE SPADE ON PURPOSE FUND: Supporting community impact projects in Masoro, Rwanda.
Farm Program: Gardens for Health internationals 5 acre demonstration and innovation farm provides our agriculture team with space to trial agro-ecological innovations, serves as a source of inputs for our program , and is our main office and training site.
