ICW'S MISSION IS TO REDUCE GUN VIOLENCE BY AMPLIFYING THE VOICE AND AGENCY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN MOST IMPACTED BY SYSTEMIC RACISM AND MASS INCARCERATION.
ICW AMPLIFIES THE VOICE & AGENCY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN MOST IMPACTED BY SYSTEMIC RACISM AND MASS INCARCERATION. WE PARTNER WITH PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS THROUGH CASE MANAGEMENT AND CAREERS IN AND BEYOND PERSONAL TRAINING. INDIVIDUALS ARE ELEVATED AS EXPERTS IN FITNESS AND THE SOCIAL ISSUES THEY'VE LIVED. ICW IS A CULTURE AND COMMUNITY IN WHICH POWER DYNAMICS ARE FLIPPED, SOCIAL CAPITAL IS BRIDGED, AND NEW LEADERS EMERGE IN THE FIGHT TO COMBAT LONG-STANDING INEQUITIES.OUR MODEL REPLACES SEGREGATION AND ISOLATION WITH ECONOMIC MOBILITY AND SOCIAL INCLUSION. AT THE CORE OF OUR PROGRAMMING IS A CAREER TRACK IN PERSONAL TRAINING. STUDENTS STUDY TO BECOME CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINERS FROM OUR ELITE COACHES, AND IMMEDIATELY RECEIVE PAID, HANDS-ON JOB EXPERIENCE AS CLIENTS COME INTO OUR FACILITIES TO TRAIN WITH THEM. OUR STUDENT TRAINERS ALSO TRAIN GROUPS FROM COMPANIES, LIKE JOHN HANCOCK, THE BOSTON CONSULTING GROUP, AND MANY OTHERS. ICW CLIENTS BECOME AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR COMMUNITY AND MISSION. BY BRINGING PEOPLE FROM OPPOSITE ENDS OF THE SOCIOECONOMIC SPECTRUM TOGETHER, WE ARE ABLE TO CREATE SYSTEMIC CHANGE, AND OPEN UP NEW WORLDS OF OPPORTUNITY TO OUR STUDENTS.IN 2020, WE INCREASED STUDENT ENROLLMENT TO 231 AND FTES TO 15. WE CREATED 22 EXTERNAL JOB PLACEMENTS FOR STUDENTS, AND INTERNAL TRAINERS EARNED MORE THAN IN ANY OTHER YEAR, WITH TOP TRAINER INCOME INCREASING 29%. THROUGH THE PROMOTION OF EMPLOYMENT AND THE REDUCTION OF RECIDIVISM RATES (THE AVERAGE FOR STUDENTS STAGES 2 4 OF OUR PROGRAM IS DOWN TO 11%), WE CREATED A SOCIAL ROI OF 10.6X. AND WHEN CONSIDERING A MORE HOLISTIC CALCULATION, INCLUDING THE COST OF INCARCERATION ON FAMILY AND HEALTH, THE ROI IS OVER 22X.
