Invest in Girls, Inc. is organized and operated exclusively for the purpose of providing high school girls with strong foundational knowledge of finance, investing, and the financial services industries through tailored educational programs. Invest in Girls, Inc. hopes to equip girls with the skills and confidence they need to become independent and influential women.
Invest in Girls hosts four interactive financial education workshops with approximately 900 students each year at various schools for a total of 12 workshops over the three years. Over the three years, girls learn the "B.I.G' concepts; budgeting, investing, and giving. The workshops incorporate financial simulations. Through online portal, girls are able to access workshop materials at any time.
Invest in Girls matches each girl with a compatible mentor working in the finance world. Mentors provide an introduction into finance careers and a deeper understanding of financial concepts. Mentors and girls call or Skype monthly to discuss future education plans, potential internships, and various professional development topics.
Invest in Girls takes participants on industry trips to meet women in the finance field. The girls are able to experience what it is like to work in an office setting along with asking questions to the women who work there. Trips are paid for by the businesses who sponsor them.
