Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION IS TO RAPIDLY, DRAMATICALLY, AND PERMANENTLY IMPROVE UNDERPERFORMING SCHOOLS SO GRADUATES ARE PREPARED TO EXCEL IN HIGHER EDUCATION AND EMPOWERED TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS.

MASS PREP NETWORK PARTNERS WITH COMMUNITIES AND DISTRICTS TO LEAD THE TRANSFORMATION OF UNDERPERFORMING SCHOOLS INTO HIGH-PERFORMING, HIGHER EDUCTATION PREP SCHOOLS THAT SERVE ALL STUDENTS. WE ARE WORKING TO CHANGE WHAT IS POSSIBLE FOR STUDENTS, BOTH THROUGH DIRECT WORK WITH SCHOOLS AND CODIFYING AND DISSEMINATING BEST PRACTICES ACROSS THE SECTOR. OUR MISSION IS TO RAPIDLY, DRAMATICALLY, AND PERMANENTLY IMPROVE UNDERPERFORMING SCHOOLS SO GRADUATES ARE PREPARED TO EXCEL IN HIGHER EDUCATION AND EMPOWERED TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS.

SCHOOL LAUNCHA KEY COMPONENT TO THE WORK AT MASS PREP IS EFFECTIVELY PREPARING AND CONDUCTING A SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL LAUNCH OF A NEW TURNAROUND SCHOOL. THE WORK THIS YEAR IN OUR SCHOOL LAUNCH PROGRAM CENTERED ON OUR WORK IN SPRINGFIELD, MA. WE EXPLORED THE POSSIBILITY OF LEADING KENNEDY MIDDLE SCHOOL THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SPRINGFIELD EMPOWERMENT ZONE. KEY SCHOOL LAUNCH ACTIVITIES (AND ASSOCIATED EXPENSES) INCLUDED:-STAFF RECRUITMENT: RECRUITING AND HIRING TEACHERS AND LEADERS FOR THE SCHOOL.-LEGAL PREP: DETERMINING THE DETAILS OF THE PARTNERSHIP WITH SPRINGFIELD EMPOWERMENT ZONE AND SPRINGFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS.-FACILITIES REVIEW AND PLANNING: FULLY REVIEWING THE SCHOOL FACILITIES AND DEVELOPING A DETAILED WORK PLAN FOR RENOVATING THE SCHOOL AS NEEDED-COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: ENGAGING COMMUNITY MEMBERS, INCLUDING STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AT THE SCHOOL TO INTRODUCE MASS PREP, BUILD TRUSTING RELATIONSHIPS, AND SOLICIT INPUT ON THE WORK AHEAD AT THE SCHOOL LEVEL.

SCHOOL SUPPORTANOTHER MAJOR PROGRAM FOR MASS PREP NETWORK IS SCHOOL SUPPORT AND DISSEMINATING BEST PRACTICES. THIS YEAR, AS A NEW ORGANIZATION IN OUR FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION WE DID NOT DIRECTLY LEAD A SCHOOL, SO ACTIVITIES WITHIN THIS PROGRAM WERE TO BUILD OUT ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY TO LEAD A SCHOOL IN FUTURE YEARS. KEY SCHOOL SUPPORT ACTIVITIES (AND ASSOCIATED EXPENSES) INCLUDED:-CODIFYING OUR SCHOOL MODEL: WHILE MASS PREP NETWORK HAS A STRONG SCHOOL MODEL BASED ON THE PROVEN PRACTICES OF CO-FOUNDER & CEO RYAN SCALLON, MASS PREP DEVOTED SIGNIFICANT TIME FURTHER CODIFYING THE MODEL BASED ON PRACTICES FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY AND TAILORING THE MODEL TO THE MASSACHUSETTS CONTEXT.-COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: AS A NEW ORGANIZATION, AN IMPORTANT ACTIVITY IN OUR FIRST YEAR WAS BUILDING AWARENESS OF MASS PREP AND BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITIES WE SEEK TO SERVE.
