TO FUEL THE QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS FOR AMERICA'S YOUNG PEOPLE AND TO CLOSE THE MENTORING GAP.

AFFILIATE NETWORK SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT:MENTOR'S NATIONAL NETWORK OF TWENTY-THREE AFFILIATES PROVIDE REGIONAL LEADERSHIP TO LOCAL MENTORING MOVEMENTS AND SUPPORT THE EXPANSION OF QUALITY MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. BY SERVING AS A CLEARINGHOUSE FOR TRAINING, RESOURCES, PUBLIC AWARENESS, AND ADVOCACY, MENTOR AFFILIATES PROVIDE THE CRITICAL LINK BETWEEN MENTOR'S NATIONAL EFFORTS AND LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS THAT FOSTER AND SUPPORT QUALITY MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS. MENTOR SUPPORTS AFFILIATES THROUGH KNOWLEDGE SHARING AND PEER LEARNING, ACCESS TO NATIONAL RESOURCES, AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL-NATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS. BUILDING OFF OF A CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PROCESS REFINED IN 2017, MENTOR CONTINUES TO PROVIDE STRATEGIC ORGANIZATIONAL COACHING TO EACH AFFILIATE TO ENHANCE THEIR INTERNAL CAPACITY, ADDRESS THEIR UNIQUE CHALLENGES, AND ENSURE OVERALL NETWORK SUSTAINABILITY. IN 2018, MENTOR LAUNCHED A NEW LEARNING AND SUPPORT INITIATIVE THAT LEVERAGES BOTH ONLINE LEARNING AND RESOURCES, AS WELL AS IN-PERSON TRAININGS TO PROVIDE TAILORED SUPPORT TO AFFILIATES BASED ON INDIVIDUAL ACTION PLANS CREATED FROM MENTOR'S BIANNUAL AFFILIATE ASSESSMENT. MENTOR ALSO WORKED TO EXPAND THE NETWORK'S GEOGRAPHIC FOOTPRINT BY INITIATING THE NEW AFFILIATE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS IN FIVE NEW STATES: MARYLAND, WISCONSIN, NORTH CAROLINA, CALIFORNIA, AND GEORGIA. IN 2019 AND 2020, MENTOR CONTINUED TO ADVANCE THE YOUTH MENTORING MOVEMENT IN AMERICA THROUGH CONVENING MENTOR AFFILIATES AND FIELD STAKEHOLDERS AT IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL EVENTS; ENGAGED IN ONGOING RESEARCH; RELEASED TRAININGS AND RESOURCES DEDICATED TO KEY AREAS OF GROWTH IN THE MENTORING FIELD; AND LEVERAGED TARGETED PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS. SIMULTANEOUSLY, MENTOR HAS BOLSTERED ITS ORGANIZATIONAL TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY BY ADOPTING SOFTWARE AND APPLICATIONS THAT HELP TO STREAMLINE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS AND SUPPORT OF MENTOR'S AFFILIATE NETWORK. ONE EXAMPLE OF THESE IMPROVEMENTS HAS BEEN THE 2020 IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MENTOR AFFILIATE ONLINE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE PERSONIFY CORP PLATFORM, NAMED "MENTOR HUB". MENTOR LAUNCHED MENTOR HUB IN LATE 2019 AND HIRED AN AFFILIATE NETWORK MANAGER WHOSE JOB INCLUDES SUPPORTING MENTOR HUB'S LAUNCH AND MANAGING THE AFFILIATE ADOPTION OF THE ONLINE COMMUNITY. AS OF MAY 2020, 100% OF MENTOR STAFF AND OVER 97% OF AFFILIATE STAFF HAVE JOINED THE ONLINE COMMUNITY. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 171 ACTIVE MENTOR HUB USERS ENGAGING IN PEER SHARING AND LEARNING THROUGH DISCUSSION BOARDS, RESOURCE LIBRARIES, AND WORKING GROUPS. AFFILIATES ARE SHARING PRODUCTS THEY HAVE CREATED, POSTING EXAMPLES OF MARKETING AND FUNDRAISING MATERIALS, AND SHARING TRAINING CURRICULUM, ACTIVITIES, AND FACILITATION GUIDES. IT IS ALSO HELPING TO CAPTURE INNOVATIONS AND REAL-TIME RESPONSES TO TRENDS WITHIN THE FIELD.

PRODUCT AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:ONE OF MENTOR'S CORE PRIORITIES IS TO DRIVE EXCELLENCE AND RIGOR SO THAT THE QUALITY & QUANTITY OF MENTORING EXPERIENCES ARE ENHANCED ACROSS THOUSANDS OF PROGRAMS IN AMERICA. THESE CAMPAIGNS HAVE ATTRACTED KEY PARTNERS INCLUDING THE NBA, NIKE, LINKEDIN, STARBUCKS, MICROSOFT, AND MY BROTHER'S KEEPER ALLIANCE. AS PART OF MENTOR'S CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO SYSTEMS CHANGE WORK, IN 2019 MENTOR PILOTED THE NATIONAL MENTORING PROJECT, A NATION-WIDE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SCHULTZ FAMILY FOUNDATION AND AMERICA'S PROMISE ALLIANCE. THE FIVE-CITY PILOT INITIATIVE DEPLOYED A NEW CURRICULUM, CALLED CONNECT-FOCUS-GROW, TO HELP ENHANCE THE WEB OF RELATIONSHIP SUPPORTS FOR OPPORTUNITY YOUTH, PAIR THEM WITH JOB OPPORTUNITIES, AND INCREASE RETENTION IN THE WORKFORCE. MENTOR HAS SINCE ADAPTED THE MODEL AND IS DEPLOYING A PHASE TWO PILOT THAT BUILDS OFF THE SUCCESSES AND LESSONS LEARNED IN 2019. THE SECOND PILOT WILL INCLUDE WORKING DIRECTLY WITH FOUR NATIONAL EMPLOYERS AND LEVERAGING MENTOR AFFILIATES. MENTOR ALSO REFINED ITS MULTIFACETED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY. THIS STRATEGY INCLUDES CODIFYING MENTOR'S ONGOING RELATIONSHIPS WITH NATIONAL EMPLOYERS, SUPPORTING WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARDS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN ADOPTING MENTORING AS BEST PRACTICES FOR EMPLOYEE SUCCESS, AND SUPPORTING HR OFFICES IN DEVELOPING POLICIES AND MENTORING PRACTICES THAT HELP RETAIN OPPORTUNITY YOUTH.
