THE 2017 CONGRESS HELD IN MAY ATTRACTED 1,158 REGISTRATIONS.
THE NPSF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SERIES OFFERS CONTINUING EDUCATION IN AN ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. DRAWING ON THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE OF THE NATIONAL PATIENT SAFETY FOUNDATION, PROGRAMS OFFER BEST PRACTICES, CUTTING-EDGE PERSPECTIVES, AND UNMATCHED RESOURCES TO ADDRESS CURRENT AND EMERGING ISSUES IN PATIENT SAFETY. THROUGH THIS ONLINE LEARNING SERIES, HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS CAN ACHIEVE BOTH PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL MILESTONES, WHILE ALSO MEETING NATIONAL AND ORGANIZATION-SPECIFIC PATEIENT SAFETY GOALS. SPECIFIC PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE ONLINE PATIENT SAFETY CURRICULUM, ONLINE MODULES, AND MONTHLY WEBCASTS.
THE NATIONAL PATIENT SAFETY FOUNDATION'S GRANTS PROGRAM SEEKS TO STIMULATE NEW, INNOVATIVE PROJECTS DIRECTED TOWARD ENHANCING PATIENT SAFETY IN THE UNITED STATES. THE PROGRAM'S OBJECTIVE IS TO ACCELERATE SAFETY PROGRESS RELATED TO THE PREVENTION OF HUMAN ERRORS, SYSTEM ERRORS, AND PATIENT INJURIES, AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF SUCH ADVERSE EVENTS IN THE HEALTH CARE SETTING. DURING 2017, NPSF CONTINUED WORK ON A GRANT FUNDED BY THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES TO PROVIDE PRACTICAL RESOURCES FOR CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS ON CREATING AND SUSTAINING A CULTURE OF SAFETY. NPSF BEGAN WORK ON TWO ADDITIONAL GRANTS IN 2017, THE FOCUS OF WHICH IS PATIENT SAFETY IN THE HOME SETTING FUNDED BY THE GORDON & BETTY MOORE FOUNDATION AND IDENTIFYING BEST PRACTICES FOR REFERRAL MANAGEMENT IN ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS, FUNDED BY CRICO/RMF.
