Organizations Filed Purposes:
To establish, maintain and operate a non-profit organization which provides analysis and policy advice on health care and nutrition service challenges to governmental authorities in developing countries, public sector donor agencies and philanthropic organizations, towards the goal of saving lives and improving health outcomes for impoverished individuals in low and middle income countries, in manners exclusively consistent with educational and charitable purposes as defined within the meaning of 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, or a corresponding section of any future federal tax code (the "Code"), and regulations thereunder.
Project #1 - With the Global Fund projects, Pharos assessed the risks, and proposed mitigation strategies, to help countries (Angola, Columbia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti and Eastern Caribbena) to cope with the withdrawal of donor funding and to sustain and run their HIV programs on their own.
Project #2 - With the Kirk Humanitarian project, Pharos provided strategic advice on how to more efficiently and effectively accomplish Foundations's mission to reach the maximum number of pregnant women in low and middle-income countries with prenatal vitamins, and supported the roll out of such nutritional supplementation in Myanmar.
Project #3 - With the UNAIDS projects, Pharos developed scenarios for future national HIV programs in Namibia and Tanzania, and assessed the prospects of Algeria, Morocco, and Jamaica to transition from external funding for HIV prevention and treatment.Accomplishments - Developed a transition risk assessment for Tanzania, Morocco and Algeria as the Global Fund plans to gradually withdraw funding for HIV and TB programs.===================================================================================
