ROSIE'S PLACE PROVIDES A SAFE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR POOR AND HOMELESS WOMEN TO MAINTAIN THEIR DIGNITY, SEEK OPPORTUNITY AND FIND SECURITY IN THEIR LIVES. WE SEEK TO FULFILL THIS MISSION THROUGH THE EXPRESSION OF OUR CORE VALUES: WELCOMING; UNCONDITIONAL LOVE; FAIR AND NON-JUDGMENTAL TREATMENT; ENCOURAGEMENT; HOLISTIC APPROACH; ALLEVIATION OF SUFFERING; TRUTH; PURSUIT OF SOCIAL JUSTICE; AND INDEPENDENCE.
ADVOCACY - SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SERVICES WE OFFER OUR GUESTS ARE THROUGH OUR ADVOCACY PROGRAMS. OUR ADVOCATES WORK ONE-ON- ONE WITH GUESTS TO HELP THEM FIND PERMANENT SOLUTIONS TO THE CHALLENGES THEY FACE. AT APPROXIMATELY 15,000 VISITS ANNUALLY, ADVOCATES ASSIST GUESTS WITH HOUSING, HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION, HEALTH AND WELLNESS CARE, EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, CLOTHING, LEGAL ADVICE, TRANSPORTATION, AND EMERGENCY FUNDS FOR EVICTION PREVENTION AND PRESCRIPTIONS. ROSIE'S PLACE PROGRAMS HELPS OUR GUESTS DEVELOP PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE THROUGH WORKSHOPS, ADVOCACY, PEER GROUPS AND EDUCATION. OUR OUTREACH PROGRAMS CONNECT WITH APPROXIMAETLY 100 FORMERLY HOMELESS WOMEN TO STABILIZE THEIR HOUSING; AND OUR COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAM WORKS ONE-ON-ONE WITH WOMEN WHOSE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH THREATENS THEIR HOUSING AND WELLBEING.
FOOD PROGRAM - ROSIE'S PLACE SERVES LUNCH AND DINNER DAILY TO APPROXIMATELY 150 WOMEN AND CHILDREN PER MEAL, AND WEEKDAY BREAKFAST TO APPROXIMATELY 80 WOMEN . EACH MEAL SHIFT IS COORDINATED BY TWO ROSIE'S PLACE EMPLOYEES WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF 10 TO20 VOLUNTEERS WHO PROVIDE FRIENDLY CONVERSATION AND SUPPORT FOR GUESTS IN ADDITION TO PREPARING AND SERVING MEALS. ROSIE'S PLACE GROCERIES IS A FOOD PANTRY THAT ALLOWS 2,000WOMEN EACH MONTH TO TAKE HOME 20 TO 40 POUNDS OF FOODS THAT THEIR FAMILIES PREFER AND ENJOY.
OVERNIGHT EXTENDED STAY - THE OVERNIGHT PROGRAM AT ROSIE'S PLACE PROVIDES SAFE, DIGNIFIED, ON-SITE EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR 20 WOMEN. WHILE MANY OF THE GUESTS IN THIS PROGRAM COME DIRECTLY FROM SLEEPING ON THE STREETS, OTHERS ARE ESCAPING AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP OR HAVE BEEN NEWLY EVICTED. FOR WOMEN READY TO TAKE SIGNIFICANT STEPS TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES, OUR OVERNIGHT PROGRAM SERVES AS THE BRIDGE BETWEEN HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS.
