IT OFFERS UP TO TWO YEARS OF PRE-UNIVERSITY TRAINING FOLLOWED BY AN UNDERGRADUATE LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES PROGRAM. IT SERVES STUDENTS FROM 18 COUNTRIES.
AUW. WITH SUPPORT FROM AUWSF (AND OTHERS), HAVE GRADUATED OVER ONE THOUSAND STUDENTS FROM 15 COUNTRIES INCLUDING AFGHANISTAN, BANGLADESH, CAMBODIA, PAKISTAN, INDIA AND INDONESIA OVER THE LAST EIGHT YEARS. MOST STUDENTS ATTEND THE UNIVERSITY ON FULL SCHOLARSHIP AS REQUIRED BY THEIR FINANCIAL NEED. AUW EXERCISES A PREFERENTIAL OPTION IN RECRUITING AND EDUCATING WOMEN FROM THE MOST MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. A COMBINATION OF FULL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR SELECTED STUDENTS AND EXTENSIVE PRE-UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC PREPARATORY PROGRAMS ARE KEY TO REALIZING ITS STATED PREFERENTIAL OPTION.THE EIGHTH CLASS GRADUATED IN MAY 2020 BRINGING THE TOTAL NUMBER OF AUW GRADUATES TO OVER ONE THOUSAND. AUW HAS ESTABLISHED A NEW MODEL OF IDENTIFYING AND RECRUITING TALENTED WOMEN FROM CHALLENGING SETTINGS AND PROVIDING THEM WITH A HIGH-QUALITY UNIVERSITY EDUCATION. IN THE WAKE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC THAT EMERGED IN MARCH 2020, AUW TRANSITED ITS COURSES ONLINE AND ARRANGED TO RETURN MOST STUDENTS TO THEIR HOME COUNTRIES. IN ADDITION TO THE PATHWAYS FOR PROMISE AND THE ACCESS ACADEMY, AUW CONTINUES ITS UNDERGRADUATE OFFERINGS IN (I) POLITICS, PHILOSOPHY AND ECONOMICS; (II) ECONOMICS; (III) ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES; (IV) PUBLIC HEALTH; AND (V) BIOINFORMATICS.
