THIS WORK INCLUDED DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT IN USE - BY PARTIES TO CONFLICT, CIVIL SOCIETY CONSTITUENCIES AND AFFECTED COMMUNITIES - OF FRAMEWORKS AND TOOLS FOR CONFLICT PREVENTION AND RESOLUTION. CONFLICT DYNAMICS WORKED WITH INTER-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS TO SUPPORT MEDIATION EFFORTS AND CONFLICT PREVENTION, AND CONTRIBUTED TO NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUES AND POLICY DISCOURSE ON CONFLICT PREVENTION AND RESOLUTION. FURTHERMORE, CONFLICT DYNAMICS SUPPORTED NATIONAL CAPACITIES AND APPROACHES TO BUILDING PEACE, WHICH INCLUDED COLLABORATIONS WITH NATIONAL PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS. RELATIONSHIP TO ORGANIZATION'S EXEMPT PURPOSE: WORK IN THESE AREAS CONTRIBUTED DIRECTLY AND SUBSTANTIVELY TO CONFLICT DYNAMICS' MISSION TO PREVENT AND RESOLVE VIOLENT CONFLICT.

PROGRAM 02: HUMANITARIAN POLICY AND PRACTICE (PROGRAM CLASS P02): CONFLICT DYNAMICS PROGRAMS TO ALLEVIATE HUMAN SUFFERING ARE ARRANGED IN THE ORGANIZATION'S HUMANITARIAN ACTION PROGRAM AREA. THIS PROGRAM AREA ENCOMPASSES PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS ON THEMATIC ISSUES RELATED TO HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS AS WELL AS CONTEXT-SPECIFIC PROGRAMS. IN THIS PROGRAM AREA, CONFLICT DYNAMICS DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED APPROACHES TO IMPROVE THE POLICY AND PRACTICE OF HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AND PROTECTION, WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO ALLEVIATING HUMAN SUFFERING IN SITUATIONS OF ARMED CONFLICT AROUND THE WORLD. THIS WORK INCLUDED HUMANITARIAN POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND OUTREACH IN THE AREAS OF: (I) ENSURING HUMANITARIAN ACCESS TO- AND BY POPULATIONS IN NEED DURING ARMED CONFLICTS; (II) IMPROVING HUMANITARIAN ENGAGEMENT WITH PARTIES TO ARMED CONFLICT; AND (III) PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN SITUATIONS OF ARMED CONFLICT. CONFLICT DYNAMICS' WORK IN THIS PROGRAM AREA IS ORIENTED TO IMPROVING THE LIVES AND LIVING CONDITIONS OF A PORTION OF THE ESTIMATED 1.8 BILLION PERSONS LIVING IN FRAGILE CONTEXTS AND, MORE SPECIFICALLY, OF THE 167 MILLION PEOPLE IN NEED OF HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AND PROTECTION WORLDWIDE. THE WORK ON HUMANITARIAN ACCESS AND ENGAGEMENT CONTRIBUTED TO IMPROVEMENTS IN HUMANITARIAN ACTION WHICH BENEFITED 26.6 MILLION PERSONS IN CONTEXTS ACROSS THE AFRICAN CONTINENT AND IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THIS INCLUDED WORK IN SEVERAL OF THE 60 COUNTRIES WHERE PEOPLE CANNOT ACCESS WHAT THEY NEED. CONFLICT DYNAMICS' WORK ON CHILDREN AFFECTED BY ARMED CONFLICT INVOLVED ACTIVITIES TO STRENGTHEN ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SERIOUS VIOLATIONS AGAINST CHILDREN IN SITUATIONS OF ARMED CONFLICT. THIS INITIATIVE AIMS TO BENEFIT, OVER TIME, THE ESTIMATED 426 MILLION CHILDREN LIVING IN CONFLICT-AFFECTED AREAS AND TO ADDRESS THE INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF VIOLATIONS COMMITTED AGAINST CHILDREN IN 19 COUNTRY SITUATIONS. CONFLICT DYNAMICS ALSO COMMENCED EXPLORATORY WORK ON USE OF EMERGING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES TO HELP PEOPLE HELP THEMSELVES AND OTHERS IN TIMES OF CRISIS. CONFLICT DYNAMICS CONDUCTED ACTIVITIES TO STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATIONS AND CONFLICT-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES TO IMPROVE HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AND PROTECTION. THIS INCLUDED IMPROVING THE CAPACITY TO ENGAGE IN HUMANITARIAN NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACHIEVING BETTER HUMANITARIAN OUTCOMES. THIS WORK CONSISTED OF CONSULTATIONS AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES. ESTIMATED BENEFICIARIES: THIS WORK WILL BENEFIT OVER TIME APPROXIMATELY 26 MILLION PERSONS IN NEED OF HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AND PROTECTION IN FOUR SITUATIONS OF ARMED CONFLICT IN AFRICA. IN ADDITION, HUMANITARIAN PRACTITIONERS IN SEVERAL SITUATIONS OF ARMED CONFLICT DIRECTLY BENEFITED FROM THIS WORK.
