HUD-SUBSIDIZED HOUSING - THE THOMPSON HOUSE, A HUD SUBSIDIZED INDEPENDENT LIVING FACILITY ON THE CAMPUS OF NEW ENGLAND HOMES FOR THE DEAF, IS THE FIRST RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX IN THE NORTHEAST DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR DEAF AND DEAF-BLIND SENIORS. UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THE NEW ENGLAND HOMES FOR THE DEAF, THE THOMPSON HOUSE WAS CONCEIVED TO PROMOTE INDEPENDENCE AND ACCESSIBILITY FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED. THE 21,000 SQUARE FOOT STRUCTURE ACCOMMODATES 24 ONE-BEDROOM UNITS, INCLUDING THREE HANDICAP-ACCESSIBLE APARTMENTS. AN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE FLUENT PROPERTY MANAGER IS ONSITE SEVERAL DAYS EACH WEEK.
