Organizations Filed Purposes:
All In Energy is a nonprofit organization that enables underserved residents (historically renters, low-to-moderate income households, people who speak languages other than English, and people of color) to save money on their utility bills by connecting them to government and utility energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. Over the course of 2020, we were able to continue serving both the Cambridge and Boston communities and started serving the Methuen and Lawrence communities. We also serve as a talent pipeline, expanding clean energy job opportunities for individuals in the communities we serve through a paid, hands-on training program.
Greater Boston: In 2020, All In Energy continued its work in Boston in partnership with local organizations such as the Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation (CSNDC). Because of COVID, the organization's field presence was diminished to a few COVID-safe tabling events alongside air conditioner giveaways to low-income families. Co-branded direct mail pieces co-branded with the CSNDC proved a successful replacement for in-person marketing in helping Boston families connect to energy assessments and weatherization. In all, All In Energy's campaign led to 138 Boston families receiving energy assessments of which 47 decided to move forward with recommended work. 40 residents were referred to low-income weatherization programs. All In Energy also began offering a community-shared solar product to income eligible residents in Boston, connecting families to over 100kW of capacity that reduced their electric bills. Prior to COVID, All In Energy continued its successful canvassing efforts targeted at helping renters get no-cost energy efficient light-bulbs, showerheads, and programmable thermostats. These measures help them immediately reduce their energy bills. After COVID, the organization shifted to a direct mail strategy, sending letters co-branded with the City of Cambridge to all Cambridge property owners. In all, All In Energy's campaign led to 582 Cambridge families receiving energy assessments of which 190 decided to move forward with recommended work.
Merrimack Valley: In 2020, All In Energy formed formal partnerships with the cities of Lawrence and Methuen to launch its first fully bilingual (English / Spanish) programs to connect residents to the Mass Save energy efficiency program. All In Energy hired bilingual staff members to assist in intake and marketing while also ensuring that partner vendor companies had Spanish speaking staff available to deliver services. COVID prevented the establishment of a field team, but direct mail, social media and public television appearances allowed these campaigns to launch successfully. In all, All In Energy's Merrimack Valley program led to 364 families receiving energy assessments of which 160 decided to move forward with recommended work. 207 residents were referred to low-income weatherization programs.
Workforce Development: In 2020, All In Energy supported nine interns to have their first experience in the clean energy industry. 44% were women, 78% were people of color, and 78% were multilingual (four Spanish speaking and three other languages). Four of them went on to find their next internship in the industry (two continuing with All In Energy and two moving to other companies). In addition, All In Energy placed its Rental Property Advisor (a stepping stone position created to execute the Cambridge renter program) into a full Energy Specialist role a partner Home Performance Contractor. His position was unfortunately eliminated due to COVID after the successful placement.
