Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the "Friends of IIASA" organization (henceforth, the Friends) is to solicit and distribute funds that will be used to foster and support research on the large problems and challenges facing mankind.
Friends of IIASA provided funding for the awarding of the second year of the Peter deJanosi postdoctoral fellowship to Dr. Alison Heslin. This was supported by the funds raised in the IIASA/FoI fundraising campaign for the fellowship, which is ongoing, and brought in another $5000 in 2018.
Friends of IIASA organized introductory meetings for the new IIASA Director General in December 2018 with research and policy leaders in Washington, D.C., and paid the Executive Director for the organizational activities.
Friends of IIASA awarded a grant to IIASA, in support of the Annual Fund Fellowship Awards for the Young Scientists Summer Program Awards ($5750). $10,000 supported Levien Communication and YSSP RAND Fellows. $3,125 supported YSSP Fellow. Annual Fund support raised by FoI for future years was $2400.
