Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Organization was established to further the broad interests of antibodyengineering and antibody therapeutics and to safeguard the public interest byincreasing discussion and activities to create the safe, thorough testing of antibody therapeutics. The society encompasses this increasingly diverse field by supporting the superstructure for the engineering of recombinant antibodies, single scaffold binders, etc. through basic and applied research by those in academics and the private sector. The Society also seeks to provide a forum and voice for thethousands of people now working on all facets of this global field.
MEETINGS PROGRAM: The Antibody Society facilitates discussion and interchange of ideas regarding issues of fundamental importance for basic research, therapeutic development and clinical testing in the field. To achieve this objective, we serve as Scientific Advisors and Session Chairs for two key meetings, Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics (annual meeting of the Society), and Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics Europe. In addition, our Adaptive Immune Receptor Repertoire (AIRR) Community holds workshops designed to develop standards and recommendations for: 1) obtaining, analyzing, curating and comparing/sharing datasets; 2) using and validating tools for analyzing AIRR data; 3) relating datasets to other big data sets, such as microarray, flow cytometric data; and 4) legal and ethical issues involving the use and sharing of AIRR data sets derived from human sources. As a member of the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies, we also organize Symposia held during their annual meeting.
EDUCATION/OUTREACH PROGRAM: As part of it mission, The Antibody Society aims to educate our members and the broader scientific community on topics important to antibody research and development. We act as an authoritative source of information about antibody therapeutics development, which we disseminate via our website, presentations and publications. We also organize and host webinars, such as our 10-part webinar series on antibody reagent validation aimed especially at those beginning a career in biological sciences. In addition, we offer travel awards to student and post-doctoral members who wish to attend antibody-related meetings not organized by the Society.
