THE COREY C. GRIFFIN FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH LEADING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO CHANGE THE TRAJECTORY OF THE LIVES OF KIDS IN NEED.
FOLLOWING COREY'S TRAGIC PASSING ON AUGUST 16TH, 2014, THE GRIFFIN FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS FOUNDED THE COREY C. GRIFFIN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, A 501(C)(3) PUBLIC CHARITY. GIVEN HIS INCREDIBLE PASSION FOR LIFE AND UNCOMMON DEDICATION TO PHILANTHROPY, IT WAS NOT DIFFICULT TO MAP OUT THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF THE FOUNDATION: IMPROVING THE LIVES OF PRIMARILY BOSTON-AREA CHILDREN THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE CITY'S LEADING EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON FAITH-BASED INITIATIVES. THE FOUNDATION BELIEVES THAT EVERY CHILD SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUCCEED, IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR FINANCIAL OR HEALTH CIRCUMSTANCES.THE COREY HOUSE AT BOSTON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL:THE COREY C. GRIFFIN FOUNDATION IS PARTNERING WITH BOSTON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO PURCHASE PATIENT FAMILY HOUSING IN RESPONSE TO THE EVER-GROWING NEED FOR 'EXTENDED STAY' FAMILY HOUSING. WITH FUNDING FROM THE COREY C. GRIFFIN FOUNDATION, THE FACILITY WILL SERVE PATIENTS' FAMILIES WHO ARE FORCED AWAY FROM THE COMFORT OF THEIR HOMES FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. TO PROVIDE MUCH-NEEDED COMFORT, THE HOME WOULD BE DESIGNED TO OFFER GUESTS A WARM AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT DURING THE DURATION OF THEIR CHILD'S TREATMENT. ON AUGUST 14, 2019, THE FOUNDATION ENTERED INTO A $1M GIFT AGREEMENT WITH BOSTON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE PATIENT FACILITY.COREY'S KIDS:THE COREY C. GRIFFIN FOUNDATION IS FOCUSED ON MAKING STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH - WHETHER IT BE THROUGH SUPPORTING THE FAMILIES OF PEDIATRIC PATIENTS AT BOSTON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS AT SAINT JOHN PAUL II CATHOLIC ACADEMY, OR SENDING UNDERPRIVILEGED YOUTH TO THE RON BURTON TRAINING VILLAGE, THESE INITIATIVES TOUCH THE LIVES OF "COREY'S KIDS" AT CRUCIAL TIMES IN THEIR LIVES. THE FOUNDATION FUNDS SCHOLARSHIPS FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH COLLEGE IMPACTING CHILDREN IN NEED. THROUGH THEIR PROGRAM PARTNERS THEY FUND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, CHARACTER BUILDING EXERCISES, COLLEGE ADMISSIONS COUNSELING AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING TO CHALLENGED YOUTH. THE FOUNDATION BELIEVES CHANGING THE TRAJECTORY OF A CHILD'S LIFE WILL MAKE PROFOUND IMPACT TO NOT ONLY THEIR LIVES AS ADULTS BUT SOCIETY AS A WHOLE. FOR THE YEARS ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2019 AND 2018, THE FOUNDATION AWARDED $207,500 AND $103,000 IN CHARITABLE GRANTS TO TWO EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AS PART OF THIS INITIATIVE.
