THE PRIMARY GOAL OF SHATTUCK PARTNERS IS TO SUPORT AND PROVIDE PROGRAMS THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS AT THE LEMUEL SHATTUCK HOSPITAL LOCATED IN JAMAICA PLAIN, MASSACHUSETTS. SHATTUCK PARTNERS COLLABORATES WITH THE LEMUEL SHATTUCK HOSPITAL STAFF TO IDENTIFY HIGH-PRIORITY PATIENT-FOCUSED NEEDS THAT THE HOSPITAL IS UNABLE TO MEET, AND RAISES FUNDS TO MEET THOSE NEEDS. SHATTUCK PARTNERS STEPS IN BY PROVIDING OR FUNDING SUPPLEMENTAL PROGRAMS FOR PATIENTS INCLUDING VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION PROGRAMS, RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND SUPPLIES, ARTS PROGRAMMING, THERAPEUTIC ITEMS AND PERSONAL NECESSITIES.
SHATTUCK PARTNERS STRIVES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS AT THE LEMUEL SHATTUCK HOSPITAL BY FUNDING OR PROVIDING PROGRAMMING AND SUPPLEMENTAL SUPPORT SERVICES.
DURING 2019, SHATTUCK PARTNERS EXPANDED SUPPORT FOR ARTS, RECREATIONAL, VOCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR PATIENTS AT THE LEMUEL SHATTUCK HOSPITAL. COLLECTIVELY, WE OFFERED MORE THAN 1800 HOURS OF ARTS AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING TIME FOR LONG-TERM PATIENTS. WE MET THE NEED FOR MORE RECREATIONAL EVENTS BY MOVING OUR FRIDAY FLICKS MOVIE NIGHTS PROGRAM FROM A MONTHLY TO A TWICE MONTHLY FORMAT. WE ALSO ENGAGED A VIOLIST TO DELIVER THERAPEUTIC MUSIC ON THE UNITS. PATIENT ASSOCIATES WORKED MORE THAN 1700 VOCATIONAL TRAINING HOURS IN THE HOSPITAL GIFT SHOP, AND INCREASING REVENUES FROM SHOP SALES CONTINUED TO PROVIDE A SIGNIFICANT SOURCE OF INCOME. MORE THAN 3500 PATIENT SIGN-INS WERE RECORDED FOR THERAPEUTIC GROUPS, INCLUDING LIFE SKILLS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE GROUPS SUPPORTED BY SHATTUCK PARTNERS. WE FUNDED WORKSHOPS FOR THE HOSPITAL COMMUNITY FEATURING GUEST SPEAKERS WITH EXPERTISE IN ADDICTION AND RECOVERY. FORTY PAIRS OF READING GLASSES WERE PROVIDED TO PATIENTS ON THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS UNITS TO HELP THEM ACCESS INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR ILLNESS AND TREATMENT OPTIONS AND ENGAGE IN RECREATIONAL READING. SENSORY MODULATION EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES TO PROMOTE SELF-COPING SKILLS CONTINUED TO BE UTILIZED ON THE MENTAL HEALTH UNITS UP TO 75 TIMES PER WEEK. TREATMENT SUPPORT FOR TB INPATIENTS AND OUTPATIENTS CONTINUED WITH A FOCUS ON NUTRITION AND TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT FOR ESSENTIAL FOLLOW-UP CARE. PATIENTS AGREED THESE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES HELPED THEM FEEL BETTER, LEARN NEW COPING SKILLS, GAIN NEW IDEAS AND LEARN TO PROBLEM-SOLVE AS THEY PREPARED TO RETURN TO THE COMMUNITY. TO ASSIST THE HOSPITAL'S EFFORTS TO IMPROVE PATIENT AREA MAINTENANCE, WE ALSO FUNDED THE ADOPTION OF A NEW TECHNOLOGY-BASED SYSTEM FOR MANAGING AND RESPONDING TO REQUESTS FOR REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE.
