TO PROVIDE AN EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS THE PHYSICAL , SPIRITUAL, SOCIAL AND INTELLECTUAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF OUR STUDENTS IN GRADES K-8.
ONE OF OVER 1,200 WALDORF SCHOOLS WORLDWIDE, WSL SERVES NEARLY 200 STUDENTS FROM PRESCHOOL THROUGH GRADE EIGHT. OUR PROGRAM FEATURES HIGHLY TRAINED, EXPERIENCED FACULTY AND AN ACADEMIC CURRICULUM THAT IS CAREFULLY MAPPED TO CHILDREN'S SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES. THE CORNERSTONE OF WSL'S EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM IS CREATIVE FREE PLAY, WHICH RESEARCH INDICATES IS CRUCIAL FOR HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT. WE ARE INTENTIONAL IN OUR FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT AT EARLY AGES AND DO NOT ACCELERATE ACADEMIC LEARNING IN PRESCHOOL OR KINDERGARTEN. CARING TEACHERS CREATE A WARM, NURTURING ENVIRONMENT, WHERE AN UNHURRIED CHILDHOOD CAN UNFOLD.IN MID-MARCH 2020, THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED FOR ALL IN-PERSON CLASSES (AS WERE ALL SCHOOLS IN MASSACHUSETTS) BY EMERGENCY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR OF MASSACHUSETTS. AT THAT TIME, THE SCHOOL CREATED AND DELIVERED A REMOTE LEARNING CURRICULUM FOR THE ELEMENTARY GRADE CLASSES. FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD CLASSES (PRE-SCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN), OUR PEDAGOGICAL CONSTRAINTS REGARDING SCREEN TIME FOR YOUNG CHILDREN CAUSED US TO PROVIDE NO REMOTE LEARNING TIME DIRECTLY OFFERED TO YOUNG CHILDREN; INSTEAD WE OFFERED SUPPORT COACHING AND MATERIALS FOR PARENTS DURING THE SCHOOL CLOSURE PERIOD FROM MID-MARCH THROUGH JUNE 2020.
