Organizations Filed Purposes: SOUTH SUDANESE ENRICHMENT FOR FAMILIES (SSEF) PROVIDES WHOLE-FAMILY PROGRAMMING FOR EDUCATION, CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ENRICHMENT FOR THE GREATER BOSTON SOUTH SUDANESE COMMUNITY. SSEF IS THE ONLY WHOLE-FAMILY RESOURCE DEDICATED TO SOUTH SUDANESE WHO HAVE RESETTLED IN MASSACHUSETTS. COMMITTED TO ENHANCING STRENGTHS, BUILDING SELF-SUFFICIENCY, AND PROMOTING COMMUNITY, SSEF ASSISTS WITH NAVIGATING SYSTEMS, ACCESSING RESOURCES, BUILDING SKILLS, AND CREATING OPPORTUNITIES TO SHARE SOUTH SUDAN'S HISTORY AND DISTINCT CULTURAL HERITAGE. SSEF DOES THIS BY CONNECTING SOUTH SUDANESE ADULTS AND THEIR CHILDREN WITH THE FOLLOWING: - ACCESSIBLE PRESCHOOL- SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITIES- COMMUNITY-BASED ENRICHMENT- ASSISTANCE WITH FINDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING- WHOLE-FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS THAT MEET THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR- OUTREACH PROGRAMS, CROSS-CULTURAL EVENTS AND EXHIBITIONS

SATURDAY BRIDGES PROGRAM: STARTED IN 2010, THE SATURDAY BRIDGES PROGRAM BRINGS TOGETHER SUDANESE CHILDREN, PARENTS, LOCAL STUDENTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND PROFESSIONALS FOR ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMING DURING THE ACADEMIC YEAR. THE PROGRAM CURRENTLY PROVIDES: PRESCHOOL SESSIONS WITH PRE-LITERACY AND EARLY LITERACY SUPPORT FOR OUR 3-4 YEAR OLDS; OUTDOOR EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION FOR ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS AT DRUMLIN FARM; AN INFANT PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES STIMULATION AND ENGAGEMENT FOR OUR YOUNGEST PARTICIPANTS; COLLEGE READINESS AND SUMMER EMPLOYMENT GUIDANCE FOR TEENS; WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS COVERING A RANGE OF TOPICS, INCLUDING FINANCIAL LITERACY, HOUSING, AND JOB SEARCH, PARENTING, AND LIFE SKILLS; AND PERSONALIZED TUTORING IS ALSO AVAILABLE FOR ADULTS. PARTICIPANTS AND VOLUNTEERS EXPERIENCE A RICH CULTURAL EXCHANGE, AND BEYOND FUNCTIONING AS A SOCIAL HUB FOR THE COMMUNITY, WHOLE-FAMILY PROGRAMMING OFFERS A MODEL OF LIFE-LONG LEARNING. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 90 SOUTH SUDANESE AND 40 VOLUNTEERS WHO ATTEND EACH SATURDAY PROGRAM.

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM: SSEF HAS SENT CHILDREN, 8 YEARS AND OLDER, TO OVERNIGHT CAMP. IN 2019, 40 CHILDREN WENT TO CAMP THROUGH SSEF, AND WE CONTINUE TO EXPAND OUR CAMP PROGRAM BY LOOKING INTO MORE OPTIONS FOR UPCOMING SUMMERS, INCLUDING DAY CAMP, PARTNERSHIPS WITH NEW OVERNIGHT CAMPS, AND SPECIALIZED SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR COLLEGE-BOUND TEENS.

SCHOOL OUTREACH PROGRAM: ANYONE WHO HEARS THE STORY OF HOW THE BOSTON-AREA SOUTH SUDANESE COMMUNITY ARRIVED HERE IS INSPIRED. BUILDING CROSS-CULTURAL BRIDGES OF UNDERSTANDING BY TELLING THAT REFUGEE STORY AND SHARING ASPECTS OF SUDANESE HERITAGE HAS NEVER BEEN MORE IMPORTANT. THE SCHOOL OUTREACH PROGRAM BRINGS THIS LIVING STORY TO STUDENTS. LOCAL SOUTH SUDANESE DELIVER OUR CURRICULUM, INCLUDING A SLIDESHOW PRESENTATION AND TALK, READINGS, AND VIDEOS.
