Organizations Filed Purposes: BEYOND WALLS ACTIVATES UNDERUTILIZED SPACES TO STRENGHTEN COMMUNITIES. BEYOND WALLS PARTNERS WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATION, MUNICIPALITIES, COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND EXPERTS TO DESIGN AND MANAGE PROJECTIONS AND PROGRAMS THAT INFUSE PUBLIC ART AND CURATED EXPERIENCES INTO COMMUNITIES.

STREET ART FESTIVAL:OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS BEYOND WALLS HAS FACILITATED FREE-TO-THE-PUBLIC MURAL FESTIVALS WITH A MIX OF INTERNATIONALLY-RENOWNED ARTISTS AND ARTISTS FROM NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES. THROUGH OUR UNIQUE ARTIST SELECTION PROCESS, WE ENSURE THE MURALS ACROSS LYNN REFLECT THE RICH CULTURE AND INCREDIBLE DIVERSITY PRESENT IN THE CITY. OUR (NOW ANNUAL) FESTIVAL LIVES ON DUE TO KEY PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS AND OUR PASSIONATE FUNDERS. EACH YEAR, THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF PAINTER'S AND ALLIED TRADES (IUPAT) DC35 PREPS, AND PRIMES ALL OF OUR WALLS, TURNING THEM INTO FRESH CANVASES.

PATIO: THROUGH FUNDING FROM THE ESSEX COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION CREATIVE COUNTY INITIATIVE, WE PARTNERED WITH LOCAL COLLABORATORS, COJUELOS PRODUCTIONS (COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CONSULTING FIRM) AND CROWLEY COTTRELL (LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT) TO DESIGN AND BUILD A SERIES OF PARKLETS TO BE PILOTED IN THE DOWNTOWN LYNN CULTURAL DISTRICT. PARKLETS ARE PUBLIC SPACE PLATFORMS THAT CONVERT CURBSIDE PARKING SPACES AND OTHER ELEMENTS OF THE STREETSCAPE INTO VIBRANT COMMUNITY SPACES. DUBBED PATIO, THE PARKLETS COME IN THREE DIFFERENT ORIENTATIONS "GATHER" "VEND AND "PERFORM". OUR PARKLETS WILL BE DEPLOYED THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, ACTIVATED DURING THE STREET ART FESTIVAL AND WILL SEE PROGRAMMING LATER THROUGH THE FALL.

THE LAUNCH: THE LAUNCH IS A 3 ACRE PARCEL OF UNDERUSED WATERFRONT LAND LOCATED IN LYNN. EFFORTS INCLUDE COMMUNITY ACTIVATION EVENTS IN ORDER TO SHOW THE POTENTIAL USE AND NEED FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE LAND. ACTIVATING THIS SITE WILL ULTIMATELY HELP THE CITY AND FUTURE DEVELOPERS UNDERSTAND WHICH AMENITIES ARE MORE DESIRED BY THE COMMUNITY AND HELP BUILD BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SUPPORT FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT ON THE WATER, INCLUDING THE NEED FOR DESIGNATED GREEN SPACE AND PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE WATERFRONT. THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS TEMPORARY WATERFRONT PARK WILL PROVIDE MEANINGFUL PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE WATER AND SET AN EXAMPLE OF HOW FUTURE REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENTS ALONG THE WATERFRONT COULD (AND SHOULD) CREATIVELY ENSURE MEANINGFUL PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE WATER'S EDGE.
