To empower and support positive choices for all and to educate and take action in the community for the prevention of oppression and violence.
The Domestic Violence program has been in existence since 1973 offering a 24hr hotline, multilingual crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, 2 secure family shelters, 1 secure shelter for victims with mental health and/or substance abuse issues emergency safe home services, legal and medical advocacy, support related issues such as victim compensation and other services as needed. The women's center also offers prevention education and community outreach to organizations, schools, hospitals, police and service providers aimed at increasing awareness and identifying victims. The past fiscal year The Women's Center provided 533 clients w/ individual advocacy counseling, sheltered 104 adults and children, sheltered 28 women in specialized shelter for victims with mental health substance abuse problems.
The sexual assault program offers a 24 hour hotline, multilingual crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy, medical advocacy, and support services since 1983. The agency also provides prevention in education and community outreach to increase awareness and identify victims. The Women's Center provided counseling to 164 victims, 1636 calls were received on the hotline and advocates provided medical advocacy at the area hospitals to 84 individuals.
The Child Adolescent Trauma Program provides support services to child and adolescent victims and non offending caregivers of sexual assault and domestic violence. Last year the program provided 869 children, adolescent clients and non offending caregivers with trauma focused therapy and psycho-education.
