THE ORGANIZATION HOSTS CONFERENCES DEVOTED EXCLUSIVELY TO EDUCATIONAL, MEDICAL, AND COGNITIVE RESEARCH OF THE CAUSES AND REMEDIATION OF DYSLEXIA. THE ORGANIZATION HAS SEVERAL ONGOING PROGRAMS INCLUDING, THE EXTRAORDINARY BRAIN SERIES SYMPOSIA, THAT OCCURS BIENNIALLY AND ALLOWS RENOWNED RESEARCHERS TO COME TOGETHER TO DISCUSS, DISSECT, AND REASSEMBLE A CUTTING-EDGE TOPIC WITHIN THE NEUROSCIENCE, COGNITIVE SCIENCE, AND EDUCATION RESEARCH RELATED TO READING AND DYSLEXIA. THE NEXT SCHEDULED SYMPOSIUM WILL SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS DYSLEXIA IDENTIFICATION AND APPROACHES TO INSTRUCTION FOR POOR AND MINORITY CHILDREN WITH READING DIFFICULTIES. THE 17TH BIENNIAL EBS SYMPOSIUM IS NOW IN THE PLANNING STAGES AND WILL TAKE PLACE IN JUNE, 2019, IN SOUTH AFRICA, WHERE THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A "COMMUNITY SERVICE" VISIT TO LOCAL SCHOOLS TO BEING SUPPLIES AND INTERACT WITH TEACHER AND STUDENTS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HOSTS 3 TEACHER AND PARENT CONFERENCES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO PRESENT CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH WITH APPLICATIONS OF EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES IN READING ASSESSMENT, INSTRUCTION AND INTERVENTION AND THE NEUROBIOLOGICAL AND GENETIC RESEARCH UNDERLYING THESE, AT HIGH-PROFILE UNIVERSITY VENUES ON THE EAST AND WEST COASTS OF THE US. SEVERAL BRIEF SYMPOSIA WORKSHOPS COMPRISED OF SENIOR RESEARCHERS IN VARIOUS DISCIPLINES, TO ADDRESS A SPECIFIC NEGLECTED TOPIC AND LAY THE GROUNDWORK FOR A THINK-TANK SYMPOSIUM OR A NEW PROJECT.BRIEF SYMPOSIA/WORKSHOPS COMPRISED OF SENIOR RESEARCHERS IN VARIOUS DISCIPLINES, TO ADDRESS ASPECIFIC NEGLECTED TOPIC AND LAY THE GROUNDWORK FOR A THINK-TANK SYMPOSIUM OR A NEW PROJECT.IN ADDITION, ACE IS A PROJECT THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN WORKING ON WITH THE PURPOSE BEING TO DEVELOP A RESEARCH DATABASE ON SCHOOL CHILDREN'S READING AND READING DIFFICULTIES THAT RESEARCHERS WILL EVENTUALLY BE ABLE TO USE TO ADDRESS QUESTIONS AND PROBLEMS RAISED BY THE COLLABORATING SCHOOLS. FINALLY, YES READ, IS A PROGRAM TO USE TECHNOLOGY TO INTEGRATE INNOVATIONS IN INSTRUCTION AND INTERVENTION INTO THE OVERLOADED SCHOOL SCHEDULE TO ALLOW FOR GREATER FLEXIBILITY IN TEACHING AND IMPROVED LEARNING FOR STUDENTS.THE ORGANIZATION ALSO WORKS TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF DYSLEXIA, THE IMPACT OF READING FAILURE ON LIFE, HEALTH,EMPLOYMENT AND WELL-BEING, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE IN DYSLEXIA DIAGNOSIS,PREVENTION, AND REMEDIATION. THEY HAVE DEVELOPED EVENTS AND AWARDS (INCLUDING THEIRPRESTIGIOUS RODIN AND HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN AWARDS TO NOTEWORTHY DYSLEXICS (IN ENTERTAINMENT ANDCOMMERCE, RESPECTIVELY), AND THE EINSTEIN AWARD TO NON-DYSLEXICS WHO HAVE MADE SIGNIFICANTCONTRIBUTIONS TO INCREASING OUR UNDERSTANDING OF DYSLEXIA.

DURING THE YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED SERVICES FROM VOLUNTEERS FOR PROFESSIONAL MARKETING AND ADVERTISING. THE HOURS SPENT ON PRODUCING THESE ITEMS WERE DONATED BY VOLUNTEERS.
