Organizations Filed Purposes:
GATEWAYS PROVIDES HIGH QUALITY SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES, EXPERTISE, AND SUPPORT TO ENABLE STUDENTS WITH DIVERSE LEARNING NEEDS TO SUCCEED IN JEWISH EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS AND PARTICIPATE MEANINGFULLY IN JEWISH LIFE.
STUDENT AND FAMILY SERVICES (SFS): THE GATEWAYS STUDENT AND FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAMS INCLUDE OUR DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM AND GATEWAYS JEWISH EDUCATION PROGRAMS THROUGH WHICH WE DELIVER DIRECT SERVICES TO CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE GATEWAYS DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDES IN-SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES WHICH MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR CHILDREN WITH DIVERSE LEARNING NEEDS TO ACCESS A JEWISH EDUCATION. THE GATEWAYS JEWISH EDUCATION PROGRAMS OFFER THEMATIC JEWISH EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN A SPECIALIZED STRUCTURED SMALL CLASS SETTING WHICH EMPHASIZES INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION TO STUDENTS AGES 4-18. IN 2019-20 SFS WORKED WITH 100 STUDENTS IN SEVEN AREA JEWISH DAY SCHOOLS AND IN OUR OWN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS WE WORKED WITH THIRTY STUDENTS IN FIVE CLASSES. WE SERVED FIFTEEN STUDENTS THROUGH THE SLIFKA INCLUSION INITIATIVE AT METROWEST JEWISH DAY SCHOOL AND SOLOMON SCHECHTER DAY SCHOOL.
THE CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING (CPL): GATEWAYS PROVIDES IN-PERSON COACHING AND CONSULTATION, EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS AND WEBINARS WITH GATEWAYS EXPERTS, ALONG WITH CURRICULUM UNITS AND ONLINE COMMUNITY PLATFORMS, RESOURCES AND TOOLS FOR SCHOOL LEADERS, TEACHERS AND FAMILIES. IN 2019-20, THE CPL WORKED WITH TEN AREA JEWISH DAY SCHOOLS, THIRTY-NINE AREA COMMUNITY SCHOOLS, FIFTEEN AREA EARLY EDUCATION CENTERS (PRESCHOOLS), THREE ADDITIONAL SCHOOLS AND ONE FAMILY NATIONALLY. GRANTS WERE AWARDED TO SIX SUPPLEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND TWO PRESCHOOLS. EIGHTEEN COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE AND NINE LEARNING WORKSHOPS BROUGHT EDUCATORS FROM ACROSS THE COMMUNITY TO LEARN AND NETWORK TOGETHER.
THE GATEWAYS PEER DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE IS TARGETED TOWARDS BUILDING A MORE INCLUSIVE JEWISH COMMUNITY BY EDUCATING ALL YOUTH AND TEENS ABOUT DISABILITIES AND DIFFERENCES. GATEWAYS TEEN PROGRAMS INCLUDE A SUNDAY VOLUNTEER PROGRAM WHERE TEEN VOLUNTEERS WORK DIRECTLY WITH SPECIAL NEEDS TUDENTS; TEEN MADRICHIM, A SPECIALIZED PROGRAM WHICH TRAINS EDUCATORS ON HOW TO EMPOWER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO WORK WITH STUDENTS WHO PRESENT WITH LEARNING CHALLENGES IN SUPPLEMENTAL SCHOOLS; AND AND A COLLABORATIVE BOARD WITH JTFGB, A TEEN PHILANTHROPY PROGRAM. IN 2019-2020, OUR TEEN PDI PROGRAMS SERVED FORTY-THREE TEEN VOLUNTEERS. OUR TEEN MADRICHIM PROGRAM SERVED EIGHT EDUCATORS FROM 3 SCHOOLS. OUR COOPERATIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH JTFGB SERVED TWELVE TEENS.
